“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe the mind can achieve.”
I come from a small town Jodhpur, in Rajasthan. The vision for an extraordinary future and the desire to make it big came to me inherently. I always believed in doing things differently and this belief was backed by my father and my amazing family. I wanted to pursue graduation abroad, so while all my friends were preparing for IIT-JEE and AIEEE, I got the opportunity and the time to delve deeper and understand my interests. I started learning horseback riding, swimming and developed an interest in reading books. My family supported me wholeheartedly. They believed in my capabilities and goals.
Within no time it was time for a change, I decided to join
BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus. Thus began my journey from Jodhpur to Dubai and to limitless possibilities. Embracing all the changes, I was determined to make the best of it. B.Tech was all about group studies, proxies, challenge, events, etc. Once, our team won $10,000 for our college by being the runner-ups in
Nokia App Challenge 2012. BITS Pilani provides for a curriculum with 2 compulsory internships. I did a 2-month internship with
POWERGRID, Gurgaon and a 5-month internship in
GISTEC, Sharjah. The experience I had in Dubai can be imagined as best of both worlds: working with multi-cultural, multi-lingual and diverse people but coming home to a place that is not so different from India after all. The urge to do it different had not faded. I started freelancing for a Belgian client who worked as a diamond insurer in Dubai.
I was very excited when I got a job offer from
Siemens Ltd. Mumbai and it was now time to return back to India. This was a big milestone in my life. I joined them as an Executive Engineer and the experience and skills I gained while working in Siemens have groomed me as a better human being. It has moulded me into a better performer. After working with Siemens for more than 2.5 years, I felt that it was time to take my career to the next stage and I decided to go for MBA.
On an ordinary day, I received an extraordinary news – an admission offer from
DoMS, IIT Roorkee.
Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee is ranked at 8th position in the NIRF rankings. Being an engineer, I feel privileged to be a part of this esteemed institute with a heritage of 170 years. The sense of achievement that I felt when I got selected for the
MBA program at
Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee, can’t be put into words. It is just the perfect platform for me to hone my skills and develop as a manager. Life at
DoMS, IIT Roorkee is an avenue of opportunities. The most interesting aspect of this journey is being in this lovely campus; amongst the topnotch experts of varied fields, amongst the most talented bunch of students, thus harmonising the most conducive environment for the development of a holistic manager. The research activities, consulting tasks, social projects provide for a unique platform to us to experiment with our interests and stretch our imaginations while also giving additional flexibility to choose electives of our choice and plan our
MBA the way we want to. I believe joining
DoMS has accelerated the journey to my goals and I am absolutely thrilled and grateful for being a part of this fiesta.
