Coming from a humble but middle-class family and being an Indian, the one thing that my family has always looked for is to get the cheapest but the best product. Although I am not sure how they manage to do so, one thing is for sure; they were successful in finding out these two rarest qualities in a single company in the apparel department. After a massive collection of different types of clothes, it was decided that till the time the parents of my family are the one who will be purchasing the clothes it will be one-stop shopping at Peter England.
In spite of an earlier resistance of the newer generation to explore the range of other different companies, there was no effect on the elders, and the clothes were being bought from Peter England only. Sooner the newest generation also finds out that the variety and quality offered by Peter England were unmatchable. Now today, the situation has been such that no matter whatever the occasion is if we need a new cloth, the one and the only place to visit is Peter England. I still remember an instance which happens three years back. I have an interview to attend, but due to my habit of forgetting the essential stuff in the most critical time, I forget to carry my formal shirt. As soon as I told this to my father, he took out his mobile and started searching for a nearby Peter England store.
Such is the craze of Peter England in the family. At that day I also realized how sinful is to buy apparel of some other company. God knows maybe the realization saved me from getting disowned.
Although things have been a little bit exaggerated till now, but it's a fact that "Roti Kapda and Makkan" are the three things that have been given utmost importance in my family. Socially, also my family has contributed the most towards the society through these three things and following the tradition I also want to do the same, but I want to make sure that this contribution should be of my own and I should be dependent the least on my family.
Once while a utensil trader was trading his utensil for the older clothes we have, I realized that the ladies of the houses are ready to give away the older clothes in free in the place of giving it to the trader in massive amount for the exchange of a very small utensil. Then it strikes me that why shouldn't we test that the whether the same situation is present in other families as well. The clothes collected could be given to the person who is in real needs of them.
Next day, I along with my three friends went on to collect the clothes from the apartment and to our amazed we were able to raise more than 100 different types of costumes ranging from one-year-old kid to 60-year men. The clothes were distributed in the local slum. Seeing the excellent response, we founded an NGO "The Green Gate Foundation" that on every six months before the sale of the apparel showroom begins to collect clothes from more than 100+ residence now and distribute it among the poor and needy.
