Making a BIG difference

Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate with a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion in year 2018. It is a huge family operating in 35 countries with more than 120,000 employees as its members worldwide. Along with having business that reaches almost every individual through different products and services, it makes a different with its CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. For over 50 years now, the Aditya Birla Group has engaged in impactful, welfare-driven activities in India and globally. The Aditya Birla Group works in 5,000 villages, reaching out to 7.5 million people annually through the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development. Furthermore, over a million patients are treated at 5,000 medical camps and 20 hospitals annually. This list of adhering to social responsibilities is never ending. The reason why Aditya Birla Group is BIG for me because it touches every individual’s life, rich or poor. For instance, the ones who can afford shop from its brands like Allen Solly, Pantaloons, Forever, Van Huesen, etc. and the ones who cannot, Aditya Birla Group makes a difference in their lives by providing them these amenities. In a heartbeat I would agree to be associated to this honorable group as you make a difference in people’s life and yes a lot of money as well. It does reflect its values of Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and Speed in its work. I feel these values are essential since they complete you as a person and help you go up the success ladder.

Challenges Vs Ambitions

Challenges are a part and parcel of everybody’s life. Life is indeed difficult, our parents get older every passing day, loved ones get sick, your love life fails or you don’t get your dream college/job. I believe that if one hasn’t gone through adversities in life, he/she hasn’t tasted the real taste of life. Our ability to handle life's challenges is a measure of our strength of character.  The most recent challenge that I faced in my life, towards the end of the year 2018, was a blend of personal and professional hardships. I was balancing my MBA entrance exams along with a banking job which as we all know eats up almost 12 hours of your day. During that phase, my father was diagnosed with an ailment that demanded immediate hospitalization. He was admitted the same day I had my CAT exam. Life looked meaningless at that point of time and there seemed no outcome of any efforts made. My priorities changed positions overnight and I felt aimless. But then I realized, this is how life is going to be. With utmost optimism I juggled books, medicines and targets.  For all I know now that things eventually do fall in place and do make you go through a change. You come out as a stronger person. However, amongst all this, my ambition to pursue an MBA did not die, with double the conviction I bounced back for my preparations and SDA Bocconi Asia Center happened. Life is short, and nobody knows what's around the corner, but I'm up to hustle through it.
