The Sixth Batch of IIM Udaipur's one-year full-time Post-Graduate Program in Management for Executives (PGPX) commenced on 1 January 2018. IIM Udaipur PGPX is a dual degree program that lays a solid foundation in management fundamentals integrated with a specialisation in Global Supply Chain Management from the esteemed Krannert School of Management. It is a fifteen-month residential program where students spend first five months at IIM Udaipur strengthening management fundamentals, two months at organisations pursuing their Internships in the field of Supply Chain Management, before heading to the United States in August for a five-month rigorous specialisation in Global Supply Chain Management at Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. Students get to experience the best of both worlds through the experiential learning modules through this one-of-a-kind MBA. The current batch comprises of 18 highly experienced participants with relevant and diverse industry exposure in IT, Manufacturing, Fashion, Healthcare, etc. The Director of IIM Udaipur, Professor Janat Shah, welcomed the incoming batch of students. In his welcome note, he briefed the students on how IIM Udaipur lays extensive focus on its research-oriented initiatives and on his vision to progress the school into a world-class management institute. This is evident by the fact that IIMU is the first of the new IIMs to re-locate to its permanent campus- a 300-acre state-of-the-art campus set in the hilly charms of Balicha, Udaipur. Professor Janat Shah advised the students to have clearly defined goals and to work towards them passionately while keeping abreast of the current developments in the field of Supply Chain. Furthermore, he also stressed on leveraging the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience life at Purdue University, as it will be paramount to one’s holistic development, nurturing the students into global leaders, with an enriched outlook on both, life and business. He urged the students to make the best of the 15 months by indulging in various activities on campus that will enrich one’s personality and leadership abilities, along with placing equal importance on career development. “Never wait for opportunities to knock at your door. Instead, create opportunities yourselves while working towards your aspirations relentlessly. Work on building successful relationships with your peers, and success will follow”, Professor Janat opined. He ended the inaugural speech by urging the students to be highly driven individuals in their respective careers, thereby being torchbearers of the IIMU family, now and forever.
