The interview for SJMSOM IIT-B was conducted on an online platform called Gather town. It was a gamified platform, and a day before the interview, we were given free roam access to get familiar with the platform. The interviews were conducted in the time frame of 2nd March to 6th March with a morning and an afternoon slot. My interview was on the 4th March morning slot and I was assigned panel number 1. The panel allotment was based on your Undergraduate degree and mine was related to chemistry thus all candidates in panel 1 had this in common. Document verification and interviews were run parallelly. My document verification was first and thus my interview was last. Throughout the whole process, the admissions team was there to guide and clear all doubts of the candidates.
Panel 1 had three members, one was a professor at SJMSOM, an alumnus from SJMSOM, and a chemical engineering professor from IIT-B. My interview started with the question “Tell me about your internships, research, and academic projects”. As I am a fresher, I gave an answer based on my 4 years of engineering. Then, the professor from SJMSOM asked me about my work in the NGO and how I was able to use my engineering knowledge in it. Following that, he asked me about statistics (which I mentioned in my previous answer) and questions related to Standard deviation, Standard error, and ANOVA. Then, the chemical engineering professor started asking questions on heat transfer, and other questions related to my degree which included surfactants, soap bubble formation, surface tension, and balance of forces in a soap bubble. Next, the alumni from SJMSOM asked me, “In which domain I would like to do my MBA”, to which I answered strategy and operations (consulting). Then, he asked me “What is the circular economy” and the Ed-Tech market in India and its key players (related to my ed-tech internship). Finally, the alumni asked me about my views on the union budget. Overall, the interview was chill with no grilling, just got little stressed during technical questions from my engineering.
