The admissions team at SJMSOM made use of an online platform (Gather) which consisted of a 2-D map, letting you walk around and talk to the other people around you. I used to believe that the waiting period before online interviews is tiring and/or boring. The admissions team was super supportive and patient in dealing with the candidates. It was the closest one could get to experiencing an offline in-person interview. For me, this was the best part of the entire process.
So there were 3 panelists for the PI round. One was a faculty of SJMSOM, one was an alumnus and the other was a professor of the Chemical Engineering department of IIT Bombay.
My interview started with questions related to Chemical Engineering with more inclination towards the internship I did in my college. This conversation went on for around five minutes after which the professor from SJMSOM took over and asked questions regarding my work experience in Reliance Industries and the e-commerce dropshipping business I did on the side. This was more of a conversation rather than just questions and answers. SJMSOM professor was done in around seven minutes, and the alumni took over. He was very chill and asked me about my hobbies and interests, why I wanted to pursue MBA, and in which role I want to work post MBA. I still remember his last question was, “What according to you is a budget?”. I answered and that was it. The whole interview was done in around 20 minutes and there was no grilling as such. It was more of a conversation with the intention of knowing me better. All in all, I was pretty satisfied with the interview.
The interview experience was quite pleasant and I didn’t even realize how the time passed. After my interview was done, I too shared my experience with the candidates waiting in the zoom waiting room and I was then on my way to get my documents verified.
