NITIE kicks off its annual fest “Avartan 2017” with a bang with Ms Smriti Mandhana of Indian Women’s Cricket Team inaugurating the event. Smriti is known not only for her cricketing prowess but also for her compassionate behaviour. The left-handed bats-women played a very important role in helping India reach the finals in the recently held Women’s World Cup. Though India narrowly missed the title but definitely won the hearts of billions of people. In a short address to NITIE, Smriti mentioned that she became fascinated by the lush and green campus of NITIE and inspired the students to take up sports as well as to be fit. Such words of wisdom made the campus roar with excitement and inspiration. NITIE was proud to host such a legendary sportsperson. Gone are the days when NITIE was known only for academic excellence. The college has provided students infinite opportunities to excel into every domain into which they feel passionate about. As sports are a passion and a dream for a lot of people, “Josh 2017” is just a small step by NITIE to promote this vigour among students. In the past, “Arun Lal” enlightened us with his words of wisdom and experience for embracing our dream and following sports. This sporting extravaganza continued for 3 days from 7th Oct to 9th Oct. Students from the prestigious colleges competed amongst each other to prove their mettle in sports like Cricket, Futsal, Athletics, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, TT, Carrom and Chess. The event has seen tremendous footfall amongst B schools with TISS, JBIMS, SJMSOM, SPJIMR, NMIMS, PUMBA etc participating enthusiastically raising the bar even higher.
