Some classroom sessions may not necessarily be limited to lessons in management but can go on to inspire someone. One such inspirational talk was taken up by our director, on the very first day during our induction program. After an engrossing 1 hour session on how to go about or MBA program, he came up with the final question of what to expect out of whole MBA program.
He started it with a story, about a child. The child held a butterfly in his fist and went to a sage thinking of putting him in a fix. He thought that he’d ask the wise man if the butterfly is alive or dead. Based on the answer he gets, he’ll either kill the butterfly by crushing it in his fist or set it free in order to prove the man wrong. So, he went to the sage and asked him the question whether the butterfly is alive or dead.
The wise man simply replied, “It’s in your hands. You can kill it or you can leave it."
Our director thus concluded his address by saying that whatever be your expectation, it all lies in your hand. The most we make out of our MBA program in specific and life in general lies in our hands, how we go about it.
This will probably be one of the biggest life lessons I’ve received and will keep it with me for a long period of time.
Which ABG group would like to work with and why?
Aditya Birla fashion and retail limited- Retail and fashion industry is human resource extensive and thus being a student of human resources, I feel that my skills will be better honed and I will have real-life experience working with the same. With the kind of revolution we are seeing in the in the clothing industry, what is in store for us as HR managers is humongous which looks like an enriching and challenging experience at the same time.
