Only recently did I realize that the products I had been using in my day to day life, the products I had come to rely on were made by the Aditya Birla Group. A typical day in my life would include at least three of their products. The food that my mother used to send with me to my PG was wrapped in the Freshwrap foil. Whenever I hear its name or I see the product it always reminds me of the days when I first started living alone. It brings back a flood of memories of all the challenges that I faced and how it has made me more independent and stronger. The day would go on with me checking the time of my train on the phone, calling my friends to meet so that we could go together to class and being notified on which lectures got cancelled on our college WhatsApp group. This was all possible because of the Idea network which continued working in my college campus when all other networks failed. From buying the dress I wore for my fresher’s party from Pantaloons to buying my first set of formal clothes for my MBA interviews from Van Heusen, Aditya Birla products have contributed significantly in my journey of life. They remind me of the times I spent in my college when I had just started preparing for my future journey and will definitely be a part of my life when I step out in the corporate world.
“Challenges are what make life interesting, overcoming is what makes life meaningful”
Academics has always been my priority and I have mostly been able to achieve all my goals in this domain be it good grades in 10
th or the college of my choice for graduation or even the major that I wanted. This made me get used to the thought process that I can get whatever I want whether I work hard for it or not. I was in for a shock when I decided to pursue MBA as I was required to give CAT, an exam which is heavier on the mathematics side which I had left after 10
th standard. I gave the exam and did not clear it after which I was faced with a tough choice of either taking whichever college I got or risking everything and taking a gap year. With my family and friends supporting me I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give another try with everything I have got. I started from the Maths textbooks of 8
th standard and slowly gained speed. Also, a theory I learnt in one of my Psychology classes helped me keep perspective and hope when things were tough and I didn’t know what my future had in store for me. The theory basically explains how instead of focusing on the things which are not in our control like the difficulty level of the paper or the marks I’m going to score we should be investing our efforts on things we can control like our preparation for the exam. But all of this was worth it because in the end I was able to get a decent percentile and get into a college of my choice. However, it does not end here. The two year MBA journey will be a roller coaster ride with new challenges everyday but because of my past experiences I’m in a better position to face them.
