I am computer engineering fresher and I had scored 99.84 %ile in XAT. This is about my XLRI-HRM interview.
There were 3 panellists in the GD and same were in the interview. In the GD our group was given the topic "Highly paid employees should not be given legal protection". I knew nothing about what the legal protection is so I thought I'm screwed. The best part of XLRI GD is that it lasts 30-38 minutes, so I could afford sitting idle in the starting 4 minutes and then I started saying some things applying SPELT (Social, Political, Legal, Economical, Technical) framework to introduce new points. I gave a decent GD, not very good but not very bad.
The same panel was in the interview, but they did not ask any questions about GD. Some background details here: Before interview and GD, XLRI makes you fill one behaviour questionnaire which contains questions like what was your life goal, what was the time when you had to significantly reassess yourself, what are the issues on which you routinely disagree with your friends/relatives etc. You also had to send one video about 2-3 minutes in which you have to say about any interest area of yours and work done by you in that area. So, I have written about my entrepreneurship plans and Innovations in computer field in these questionnaire. I have said about data analytics and my final year project in the video.
So, the first question asked to me as soon as I seated was oh you're a fresher. Where did you get your placement? I answered the company name.
Panel-1 : Which post?
Me: Business Analyst
Panel-1: What does a business analyst do?
Me: Answered thoroughly
Panel-3: Can you give one real life example when business analysis became useful?
Me: Talked about one insurance company case I read during preparation.
Panel-1: Now, can you give 2 examples where business analysis failed?
Me: Gave examples of weather and tsunami prediction that recently proved wrong and another example of my final year project which was on health prediction.
Panel-3: Tell us about your father's business
Me: Answered thoroughly.
Panel-3: some cross questions on my father's business like what are the HR Practices you learned from there etc.
Me: I was prepared for it as I used to go with him on a regular basis so did not face any trouble.
Panel-1: You have written that you feel that India is being brain drained by the USA and other countries especially in the IT Field.
Me: yes, sir
Panel-1: If you get your placement in Bangalore, will you go?
Me: After thinking for some moments, yes I'll go.
Panel-1: Then what's wrong with people going abroad for good placement?
Me: clueless, but after some thinking I said but sir I want to pay taxes to the Indian govt.
Panel-2: Tell us about your plans for entrepreneurship.
Me: Told about projects working on.
All of them - Thanks.
Me: Thanks and left
After one month, I checked the result and was selected for the XLRI-HRM program.
