Initially in my professional career I was working in technical roles in the IT industry. I had been performing good in among my peers in my tasks but it was not giving me managerial exposure that I was looking for. I have always been good at managing events and people and I would always go ahead and pitch the same to my management but didn’t get that break. Then in the mid of my career, based on my past records and my willingness to work in managerial role, I was given an opportunity to manage an IT Supply Chain Project. The real problem was, that the project was not having a proper IT infrastructure and was way behind its deadlines and in Red scale. Also, the people working in the project were in different continents and communication was a big problem as there was a lot of cultural difference as well because of different continents.  I faced all such hurdles but I took the opportunity, to prove my point. I had to first of all bring everyone involved in the project on the same page which I did by constants meetings and a personal touch along with domain knowledge to the professional part. Then, I had to bring the project back to its green scale and reach the deadlines on time which we all did as a team. For last 8 months in my project I overachieved my targets and due to the same reason, I was awarded the client excellence award, got to meet my Client company’s CFO and IT Director and hence I proved my point to my management and myself that I can do well at managerial positions. This incident had such a positive impact on my life that I finally decided to go for an MBA and restart my career in a managerial role.
