What are the things that one looks forward to when doing an MBA?
Networking with great minds of the country? Exposure to industry through corporate talks by eminent and celebrated CXOs? Supporting theoretical learning with case-based pedagogy?
While all these are strong arguments when one prepares for their “Why do you want to do an MBA?” question, one often neglected aspect of doing an MBA is the Student Exchange Programme that it has to offer.
With increasing globalization and the business world becoming more and more borderless with time passing by, it becomes absolutely essential to get a taste of the business practices across different countries. This is where a Student Exchange Programme comes into play. A good student exchange programme gives the opportunity to get quality education from top business schools across the globe where the students get to learn about different cultures, study new subjects which are gaining value in the current business scenario and above all, it gives them an opportunity to work in a team of diverse members where you get to think differently. Admittedly, “Globalization” is a highly abused word but future entrepreneurs have to take this in their stride if they are aiming to create a truly “Global Business”.
MDI Gurgaon boasts of one of the finest Student Exchange Programme in the country with MoUs signed with top business schools across the world like:
1. Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, Netherlands
2. HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, Germany
3. Copenhagen Business School, Denmark
4. Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Germany
5. ESCP Europe
6. EDHEC France
7. Bocconi University, Italy
MDI Gurgaon has MoUs signed with 48 B-schools in countries like USA, Switzerland, Denmark, Australia, South Africa, Belgium, Japan, South Korea, Italy, Greece, Portugal and many more countries which means that all those who want to go for an exchange programme get an opportunity to choose from an array of top colleges.
This is supported by the number of students that go for an exchange programme every year during the period September to December, or the 5th trimester here at MDI. More than 1/3rd of the entire batch (PGPM and PGP-HRM; PGP-IM students already study abroad for the entire 2nd year of their MBA) go for the coveted exchange programme.
There is no substitute for experience:
"It is a holistic experience. Especially for those interested in Marketing. Rotterdam School of Management's marketing department is among the top 10 in the world… All in all, it was an amazing overall experience. I got a flavour of what it's like to actually do an MBA from a top B-school of the world!"
-Har Ras Singh, Rotterdam School of Management, Netherlands
"Anything that starts with a flight to Paris is sure to provide one with the best experiences of their lives. The program helped me realise the huge differences in the education system between India & the west and gave me a treasured perspective on so many different cultures within a short duration… Exchange was an experience unlike anything else and it left me wanting for more. These three months, moments, memories will forever be a source of joy and happiness."
-Vivek Vikram, Toulouse Business School, France
"If I had to describe my entire exchange experience in one word, I will say it was enriching! I will treasure the experiences I had in these three months for the rest of my life. I got the chance to visit 7 countries and experience the culture of Europe. Living with people from 5 different countries was in itself a joyful experience… It truly was an enriching experience!".
-Amogh Jain, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark
"An unparalleled experience - appreciated the nuance of living abroad vs travelling abroad. Great learning in terms of personal development! Experienced a different pedagogy… it was an absolute pleasure those three months! And memorable for life. I would recommend EVERYONE to not miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
-Sakshi Mittal, EDHEC Business School, France
"Personally, for me, it was quite challenging and because of this even more fascinating… It goes without saying these 4 months spent abroad were very useful for me as I gained a lot of life and learning experience: I improved my writing skills a lot, as we had to write several research papers on various serious issues; I realized that it’s possible to combine studying the programs of two universities simultaneously. Moreover, it was a great chance to compare the way of getting an education at a French university to the one we get in India. Hence, this experience was an invaluable contribution to self-development both in education and everyday life."
-Mayank Rathi, SKEMA Business School, France
