Four students of SIBM Pune, participating in this year's edition of Mahindra War Room, have been selected to represent Pune on a live business challenge for an entity of Mahindra & Mahindra: Indian Blue Book. This website provides car buyers and sellers an opportunity to check the value of their car before making a transaction.
Aastha Chawla, Abhishek Nair, Ashima Kandari and Karan Kaul, all second-year marketing students at SIBM Pune, have also created a Facebook page – FoolProof Indian – which offers useful insights to used car buyers and sellers with the help of light-hearted videos, memes, customer testimonials and exciting contests. The page has already become a hit within 15 days of its inception, with 1000 followers and a reach of more than 2 lakh people as on date.
So what drives these students to work on a live case with Mahindra & Mahindra? What is the value that they see in Indian Blue Book?
“The used car market in India has not reached the desired transparency and we are lagging behind globally,” said Karan. “There are various things that have plagued the growth of used car market; the one we are targeting is lack of transparency. Indian Blue Book is a useful tool to check & compare prices online, and empowers customers to negotiate better while buying/selling from any source. We created our Facebook page with the intention of preventing people from getting ‘fooled’, hence the name – FoolProof Indian.”
They still have a long way to go, and we wish them luck in their endeavour to create a positive change in lives of as many people as they are able to touch through their initiatives. More power to their elbow!
