IIM Udaipur had the distinct pleasure of being one of the first new IIMs to shift into its permanent campus. The campus in question is one of India’s largest, spanning over around 300 acres of land. Its got all the usual necessities, like a library, working classrooms, hostel rooms, night canteens, mess etc. On top of that what it also does have are huge artificial lakes which personify the very character of the city that hosts this great institution, Udaipur, also known as the city of lakes. It’s surrounded by hills and hence provides great views and an even better jogging track.
All in all, it seems like an awesome place to study and at the same time chill. Right? However, like nearly everything that seems great from the outside, there is an underbelly to this seemingly great campus. The main issue with the campus is that construction is still ongoing. Whereas I’m sure that’s not uncommon for even the older IIMs but can still be distracting at times. The constant noise and air pollution is a bit of a deterrent when it comes to concentrating on studies or taking a jog in the campus grounds.
However, credit has to be given where its due. Even though there are construction activities going on in the campus the management has taken a very understanding approach towards this issue. As such they have banned any and every construction activity during class or examination time that may cause disturbance to students. At the same time, there is a constant support from the infrastructure student committee of the college, wherein a student can ask them to suspend construction activities in case there is too much disturbance. I recall an incident from the last term, wherein I had an examination the next day and there was tile cutting going on next to my room. A simple WhatsApp message to an Infracomm member and the activity stopped within 5 minutes.
So, all in all, I can say that IIM Udaipur is going to have one of the best campuses in India. But that will only happen once it has finished. We as students receive a lot of support from the college for this particular issue, but the fact remains that we still continue to study and survive on a construction site.
Which ABG company do I aspire to be a part of?
With a group as big and diversified as the Aditya Birla Group, a student is often spoiled for choices when thinking about which particular company he/she would like to work for. I’ve decided that the best option for me would be
Aditya Birla Capital (ABC). I have always and will always hold a keen interest in finance and anything related to finance. I’ve already completed a BBA degree majoring in finance and am pursuing a vast number of finance subjects in MBA as well. As such, it would make sense for me to join a financial service company.
