Two months of Summer Internship with Flipkart has indeed been a journey, a journey of transformation of not only knowledge but of inner calibre. We stepped in the arena of the new vibrant campus of Flipkart in the Embassy Tech Village. A group of 20 interns from different premiere B-Schools came with all our energy to step into the corporate hemisphere. Welcomed as “
Flinterns” with heart touching surprises made us feel so very special, made us feel as a part of the organisation right from day one.
The first two days we learnt about the company, its organisational structure, the way it started and all its way till its ten years of awesomeness. Instead of dreaded induction lectures, our induction was filled with fun-filled activities in random groups so that we all amalgamate well and know each other to our best, a treasure hunt to know our would-be workspace in and out and warehouse visit to get a taste of the actual day to day operations behind the scene. We were then introduced to our mentors and buddies to take up our internship projects. The most encouraging part of Flipkart I felt was when I was asked about my interests and expectations from the company for the next two months rather than deploying me in a project right away. Goals and projects were assigned as per current business needs and my skillset and prior experience. This encouraged me to put in my best efforts to rightfully contribute to the company’s expectation. Apart from this, superb mentorship of my mentor and buddies helped me for the successful completion of all the goals initially set. I was lucky enough to get a chance of visiting the different assets- distribution centre, mother hub and delivery hub as well and also to work with different stakeholders and teams like logistics, operations, finance, planning and control tower to gain a holistic knowledge of e-commerce supply chain as well as the cross-functional integrations. Every project had its own challenges to brainstorm and crack the perfect robust solution for the long run. This triggered my learnings and self-development indeed.
We were engaged with not only real-time projects which got implemented during our internship period, but also indulged ourselves to the amazing indoor as well as outdoor sports facilities and food joints the campus provides to all its employees. The vibrant colours of every floor volcanize the spirit within to step ahead and perform with all your vigour. Even if you step back sometimes while work, the colours won’t let you down. It brims you with all your positivity and enthusiasm to be your best again. Every floor you step into has its own zeal of youthfulness, energy, vibrancy, agility… all focused unanimously on one single goal- customer first.
