The summer placement process for the 2013-15 class of the flagship courses Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management (PGDHRM) at IIM Ranchi was conducted between October 2013 and February 2014. 72 firms participated in the process, dishing out 210 offers to 197 students, reiterating IIM Ranchi’s position as one of the fastest growing B-schools in the country. Despite an increase in batch strength by 33% and an economic slowdown, the institute has been able to successfully emulate the trend of previous years. The season saw participation from several reputed corporate brands across sectors such as Banking, Fast Moving Consumer Goods & Durables, Strategy & Consulting, Automobile, Agri-business & Conglomerates. Students saw overwhelming response from huge corporates brands and PSUs, even as many students opted to intern with exciting start-ups offering profiles across various verticals. BFSI and Services were sectors which made the highest number of internship offers while various start-ups found a growing interest amongst students. Prominent recruiters for marketing role were MTR, Berger Paints, RPG Group, HT Media, Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting, Decathlon, Hero, Becton Dickinson, Eveready, Greenply, Tupperware and JK Lakshmi. Becton Dickinson picked up interns for a specialized analytics & strategic marketing role for its global medicine division. In the finance sector, interesting roles like Investment Banking, Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Finance Advisory, Corporate Banking, Risk Management and Project Finance Research were offered by JP Morgan, ICICI, RBI, Fitch Ratings, Phillip Capital, Aditya Birla Financial Services, Kotak Mahindra, RPG Group, IIFCL, SBI and CCIL. One of the best Venture Capital firms based out of India recruited students for their coveted VC Advisory role. The General Management and Consulting domain wasn’t far behind either. Wipro recruited students for roles reporting directly to its Chief Strategy Officer, Mr Rishad Premji while Tata Quality Management picked up students for a niche role in Innovation. Prominent recruiters offering niche roles in operations were Tata Steel, ABB, Tata Power, Hero, Becton Dickinson, Salcomp Manufacturing and Cooper Standard, Trident, Mecon and Greenply. Corporate firms like ICICI, Kotak Mahindra, Deloitte, Samsung, Dr Reddy's, Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting, Cisco, IKYA Human Capital, MTR, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, Tupperware and Ad Astra among others expressed high interest in recruiting from the second batch of PGDHRM students, as students were offered roles from some of the biggest corporate houses in India, apart from HR specific firms. In conclusion, the summer placements are yet another feather in IIM Ranchi’s cap, as the institute continuously looks forward to stupendous growth and opportunities. The path ahead is clear.
