It is vehemently quoted, “be stronger than your excuses”, and here we the students of Batch 2021 stands. Masters of Business Administration in an individual’s life is nothing less than a rollercoaster and the most pivotal part of that coaster is THE PLACEMENT SEASON. I still remember my Summer Placement season and the joy it brought not only to me but to my friends and family. I have a keen interest in Biology due to my Bachelors in Biology and therefore, I had a slight inclination towards a Pharma or Healthcare company, little did I know that my dream would come true and I would be interning with one of the leading Medical devices segment companies of the world, Becton Dickinson. In the process to get selected for an internship at Becton Dickinson one has to go through a two-round process; Group Discussion followed by Personal Interview. For cracking the group discussion an individual should do the following- 1.       Be thorough with the current affairs (ranging from 6-8 months), 2.       Should be attentive about the topic given, 3.       Deliver their points well in a nicely articulated manner along with maintaining a check on the number of ‘relevant’ entries made 4.       Conduct mock GDs with your peers For Personal Interview, the following tips can come in handy- 1.       First and foremost, be cool minded, don’t be anxious or distracted 2.       Be thorough with your Resume, past experience (if any), speak confidently and, 3.       Prepare an answer to the penultimate question, “Tell me about yourself”, remember, you are the one who has to drive this interview. Talking about my onboarding experience, my internship started in the first week of June, where all the interns had a session with the BD India Leadership Team. The session included an introduction to BD businesses, BD’s strong vision-mission statements, expectations, and about how we can create an impact on the organisation and therefore, help in advancing the world of health. I was allotted a project on onboarding experience and therefore, I had to be in touch with a lot of employees, which initially I thought would be very tough, but to my surprise, everyone at BD was really supportive and welcoming. The people at BD kept me energized throughout my tenure and made my journey effortless and memorable. One of the prominent learnings from my SIP at BD includes learning about the “culture and ethics of an organisation”. I also feel appreciated towards the fact that my faculty from SCMHRD was always open to help and it was also due to the various case studies, secondary research and HR competitions that this beautiful expedition at BD could get executed. As a piece of advice to the upcoming Batch of 2022, I would like to say that, it is alright to be worried, none of us knows what lies ahead in the coming years, but, one thing for sure, enjoy your MBA (virtually and hopefully soon at our respective campuses), these days won’t come back again. All of us are in this together and lastly, start connecting with more and more people and stay proactive. All the best.
