My internship sailed me through an immensely enriching and fruitful experience at Raychem RPG. It gave me the opportunity to apply all the theoretical concept learnt during the first year of my PGDM course at IIM Ranchi into practical usage and provide the desired output to my organization. It was never a very easy path for me, what I had to face during my internship was challenges related to my project and competition by the fellow interns belonging to prominent institutes such as IIM A, C etc. I was motivated by the very fact that was told to me by my manager i.e. “You are expected to do things that is otherwise impossible.” It gave me the drive to work hard and achieve excellence in all the task assigned to me.
My project was related to a product launch in India, the product existed in other economy but had no presence in India and hence I was assigned the task of formulating a complete business model or a B Plan for the product. My guide in the organization gave me complete independence to think and come up with some disruptive ideas at every level of my project life. I took this opportunity to discover more and more knowledge about a product launch in an industry. I was given the driving seat for the development of the entire business model hence I started with techno commercial analysis, market mapping, supplier interactions etc. This was followed by several field visit to my clients and gathering as many useful insights as possible regarding the product. Later on I used various tools and techniques to do the necessary data crunching and hence discovered core competencies and ideas required for making a successful business model. Finally, I made a macroscopic financial model along with a predictive market size for the product to support my rational for the strategy chosen by me for the entire product launch and the business model.
These two months of my summer project was very hectic and also had its own peak and trout. There were times when I made mistakes but at the same time I was also able to discover some of the core insights about the product which could actually give my organization healthy profits in a very quick span of time. My final presentation was appreciated by everyone in the organization and I was awarded
Arjuna Award of RPG Group for being the best summer intern in runners up position 2015 along with a
prize money of 50,000/- rupees and
a PPO. It was an amazing experience and I am very thankful to my organization guide and my manager for all their help and guidance. Last but not the least I thank my college IIM Ranchi for this achievement of mine and dedicate this award to all the faculties and support staff of my college.
