Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune beat out several other B-schools to claim the much coveted grand prize in HUL’s much coveted event –
Carpe Diem.
The team which comprised Priya K (MBA 1
st year, Marketing), Vineela Vellanki (MBA 1
st year, Marketing) and Ashish Todi (MBA 1
st year, Marketing) beat out the competition from other elite B-schools like XIM Bhubaneshwar, IIFT Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad, MDI Gurgaon and NMIMS Mumbai in the Grand Finale to claim the ultimate prize, which is a chance to work with a Brand Manager in HUL on a LIVE marketing project. Not just that the winners, also get an opportunity to become a summer intern at HUL under the Unilever Leaders Internship Programme (ULIP) 2015. “It is indeed a proud day for the entire team. We feel honoured that HUL recognized our ideas and our work. All the blood, sweat and tears that we poured into preparation were totally worth it,” said Priya K, when asked about what it felt like to win the competition.
Carpe Diem is a case study competition organised by HUL for 1
st year students from the elite B-schools in India. This year it involved developing a holistic marketing and distribution strategy for HUL’s water purifier – PUREIT for all markets.
The competition has three rounds. For the first round all the students of a participating B-school may come up with a strategy for the product. The second round sees only the top three teams from the B-school vying against each other by pitching their strategy via a presentation. The best strategy is then sent across to HUL for inspection. For the last round or the Grand Finale, HUL invites the top entry from six B-schools to present their strategy via a presentation at the HUL Head Office in Mumbai.
