When I got an admit to Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune I went to the internet to address my many queries like the academics, alumni base, proximity to an economic hub , the companies the institute attracts and many career related queries.
The campus itself is in the Lavale area of Pune and is spread among various other institutes that come under the banner of Symbiosis University. To come to the college one has to fetch a shuttle from the hill base to the hill top. Yes ,you read it right ,we have a complete hill to our university. I can go on and on about the aqua point or the amphitheater from where you can see the entire Pune city which,at night, looks like a distant galaxy shimmering on earth. Or I can talk about our football ground that borders the hill right at the top.
The one thing that I realized once I came to campus was that the different colleges share not only the same location but also have common hostels for all. I believe the true unique feature of SIBM would be the mix of different management course students and the opportunity that comes with to learn from them. Here at the hill top we have institutes offering different courses from business communication to sports sciences , from institutes specialized for banking and finance to telecommunication management.
The campus life at this hill provides you with a lot of opportunities to interact with this mix of ideas . The student life here at the hill top is very engaging ,from one competition to the other. We also have many international students studying amongst us so it also provides us with moments where we can learn about their experiences and have a wider non local opinion of the industry. It also encourages a wide mind mentality and helps to foster an open mind. I found the students here very accepting and respectful and always ready to assist you in knowledge transfer or matters otherwise. You can approach a student from business communication and he or she may give you important specialization related advise to follow for the promotions of an event or a guy from sports sciences to get a better, more optimized organization of our colleges sporting event.
You can always find students at our midnight canteen. It is a great place to meet people of different background and learn new things. All you need is the courage to break the ice and have an open mind. As the name rightly suggests that the students are in a symbiotic atmosphere where they coexist with continuous interaction, sharing experiences and widening their intellects.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I want to work for Idea Cellular if such an opportunity arises. The reason for this choice is my background as a electronics and communication engineer. This will help me to perform the managerial tasks in a better way .I will be able to understand the different on-ground process and contribute better to the overall growth of the organization. Also Idea Cellular's understanding that the survival of the company is due to its customers is very important and a philosophy I can agree and adhere to.
