Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
As I sat down to elucidate how impactful ABGLP is in my life, curiosity took better of me and I wanted to know everything ABGLP was involved with. As an MBA scholar, it is sacrosanct to keep my eye on ABGLP and I thought I had my fair share of knowledge about ABGLP but to my surprise, there is a lot more than what I knew. Now that I think about it, ABG has touched every aspect of my life in one way or the other. Starting from Idea, which my dad is almost patriotic about and Idea has not let him down ever. ABGLP’s Carbon Black probably formed the way in our house as a tyre of one of the vehicles. As I write this, I am wearing ABFRL apparel. I remember when I went for my first interview I was wearing formals that I bought from Peter England. Coming from a middle-class family, I relied on Pantaloons to keep my wardrobe updated. Even today, when I go to the shop I get nostalgic about my childhood when I used to go to Pantaloons with my mom and dad. I feel that my bond with ABG is deeper than what I could have presumed. ABG is not just any another company, it is different from others in a sense that monetary profits are not its sole goal which is evident from the varied initiatives it has taken for the betterment of society and environment.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
I completed from engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication from IES, IPS Academy Indore. Tata Consultancy Services recruited me during my campus placements. I joined a team with five members wherein we had a Danish shipping giant as our client. Within 2 years, I was shouldering a lot of responsibility and I was dealing with the client requests on a regular basis. This was an achievement of its own but my real achievement presented itself in form of a personal tragedy. I was in an accident and it left me bed-ridden for an extended period. As I was shouldering a lot of responsibility, My absence crippled the team, I had to take a decision to take care of my health or to go against doctor’s advice and start working. I consulted my doctor, based on his recommendations started working in bursts of 30-45 minutes and started contributing. I was strictly tackling major issue resolution. I continued this for 3 months. This impeded my recovery process in a significant way but I was satisfied that I did not abandon ship in the face on a personal storm. I received ‘ON THE SPOT’ award for my service commitment. I was applauded by senior management as well. I learned an important lesson from this incident. It is important to persevere for something when you truly believe it in your heart. I came out stronger than before and this serves as my motivation whenever I feel lost and tired.
