The Aditya Birla Touch - Akaanksha Verma, TAPMI

“Aditya Birla Group” touches millions in the world. I am one of those millions. Although it’s one of the most famous and prominent Indian private sector conglomerates, most of us are simple unaware of the immense  presence this group has in our lives. The Group’s footprints  are present in almost all aspects of our daily lives. Perhaps, this is testimony to the fact that quite like its esteemed chairman Sri. Kumar Mangalam Birla, the group prefers its work to speak for itself instead of self-promotion. Let’s take a short dive into this mammoth ocean which is the Aditya Birla Group and see for ourselves via the lens of my individual experiences how this group and its work has affected us over the last 150+ years.

A nation is built on the shoulders of its people and lives get improved as the nation progresses. Being from a small town, I know the importance of infrastructure in an individual’s growth and development. ABG has contributed significantly to the progress of our nation’s infrastructure and its development via the various reputed companies owned by it. Some of these are :- Hindalco and Novelis for non-ferrous materials, UltraTech for cement etc. Quite an eye opener, isn’t it? - To know that such reputed brands which we are hearing of since so many years are owned by the same ABG group. Several mega projects, all over the country, have benefited from the quality materials manufactured in these companies - Be it sea-links, railway lines or multi-storey highrises. 

Let’s move further. I am college going girl and I am in my early 20s. Like all the millenials, I too like to dress myself smartly and fashionably. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that all the preferred brands - Van Heusen, People, Forever 21 - are owned by none other than the Birla Group. In addition to this several other big-name brands - Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly, Peter England, Planet Fashion - are all under this group. Basically, this group is responsible for the way my family dresses!

The 21st century world is a fast-paced world. Everyone is busy and physically far-off to each other. Take my example, I am currently in Manipal while my brother is in Bengaluru and my parents are in Bihar. Yet we remain close to each other and remain connected - all thanks to the marvel that is mobile telephony. Here also, ABG group owns the two main service providers Vodafone and Idea or Vodafone-Idea ( after the merger ). Impressive!

After completing my education in the next 2 years, a new life will start for me, a life where among all other things, I will have to manage my expenses and keep track of my finances. Even in this field, Aditya Birla Capital - the umbrella brand for all the financial services business of The Aditya Birla Group has a tremendous presence and it ranks among the top 5 fund managers in India.

Lastly, I would like to touch upon the other side of the  Aditya Birla Group i.e that of their philanthropic activities and ventures and their tremendous presence in the education sector. Many reputed institutes like BITS, Pilani  are promoted by this group which in turn helps in the progress of the nation.

In conclusion, I would just like to iterate upon the fact that I have  been privileged to have the support of this invisible hand all through the years.
