Mohit has been chosen as one of the top 50 most employable candidates across schools and programmes in India for the Class of 2016. He has one of the best 50 profiles among the candidates who participated in the Best50 competition.   About me I firmly believe in “The best way to predict your future is to create it” - Abraham Lincoln. Education paves the way to create one’s future and my parents have inculcated the values of education, discipline and perseverance in me since childhood. These traits helped me to clear IIT-JEE, excel academically at IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore and outperform my peers at Citigroup. After having graduated from IIT Delhi, I worked for Citigroup for 3 years in Interest Rates Division in Mumbai and London. Along with IIT Delhi and Citigroup, I have always been associated with the Indian education sector and aim to reduce educational inequality in India. What have you done at your Post-Grad/Business School/Undergrad level that makes you stand out from the crowd? First, from an academic perspective, I am among the very few students in IIM Bangalore who were among the top 20 candidates in the Merit admission list and am still among the top 20 candidates in the batch after the first year. I was nominated for Aditya Birla Scholarship in the beginning and was awarded Director Merit Award after the first year. Prior to IIMB, I did my undergrads from IIT Delhi, where too, I was among the toppers in Mechanical Engineering. Second, from a professional front, I have had a wide range of work experience across various sectors. I worked for around 3 years in Citigroup Global Markets at the Interest Rates desk. I have worked for start-ups in the education sector for around 7 years (part time and full time) and have exposure to consulting industry too. What have you done in your life that you are the proudest of? I have a keen interest in the Indian education sector and have been working towards it for the last 7 years. I started teaching Mathematics for IIT-JEE in my first year of B.Tech and went on to starting a social education venture in the fourth year of IIT. In total, I helped more than 500 underprivileged students to get into their dream undergraduate college without any hefty tuition fee! After graduating from IIT and with Citi too, I was working for the kids. After having worked in Citi for around 3 years, I realised my heart lies in working for the poor and decided to quit Citi. I took 70% pay cut and joined a social venture to improve the education sector in India. Post MBA, I will work with McKinsey and Company and would eventually look to leverage my network and start a venture again in the social sector.   Meet the rest of India’s 50 Most Employable Management Graduates from the Class of 2016 here.
