THE ADITYA BIRLA FRATERNITY (PART-A)
As I recall how Aditya Birla has a vast presence all throughout my life. As I belong from a middle-class Pantaloons has always been my go to go option when it comes to purchasing clothes, be it in any occasions. I have a knack of marketing for quite a long time. I am doing MBA so that I can switch my domain to marketing. Aditya Birla Group is in the League of Fortune 500 companies. The Aditya Birla Group has been ranked fourth in the world and first in Asia Pacific in the ‘Top Companies for Leaders’ study 2011. Their presence is evident in the daily life of a large segment of the Indian populace. Their role in the ever-changing scenery of Indian cities is not prominent but ever-present through Ultratech cement. As the populace become more connected the role of mobile phones take centre stage but in the absence of telecom connectivity provided by players like Vodafone-Idea are only dead weights towards economic progress. Brands like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England, Idea Cellular, Birla Sun Life Insurance and Birla Sun Life Asset Management are among the leaders in their respective categories. Aditya Birla’s Ultratech is the only Indian Cement to clear the Japanese quality test making it eligible for the construction of the Bullet Train Project in India. In short, the Aditya Birla group has taken India on its shoulders and helped it reach new heights.
THE CHRONIC TROUBLE TO START (PART- B)
That’s the thing about challenges, they vary by time and situation. Most of the times, they are succinctly involved with our lives making it hard for us to distinguish them as a challenge. And once meeting them repeatedly it becomes a routine to face them that someday we forget how difficult they were in the beginning days.
The biggest challenge in my life was “beginning”. For some reasons, it was always difficult for me to BEGIN. Right from school, I go home carrying a lot of ideas and plans from the classes to later execute at home. As far as I can trace my memory I have no recollection on how I spend those post-class evenings, mostly I while away my time (but again with a long list of to-do’s).Finally, it was in college I actually realize that this reluctance to begin was a huge threat to my progress. I used to metaphor the ‘
starting’s’ with ‘
ignition’. Starting’s has always been difficult (or at least it needs energy) – be it a scooter or a rocket.
It was the book
“Eat that Frog” by
Brian Tracy that changed my way of doing things. The edition I read had 21 chapters on how to approach our tasks and eventually our lives.
Tracy addresses “tasks” as frogs - big and ugly frogs. So first, eat them. Eat the frogs, in our language “
eat the tasks” first place in the morning. The books also talks about organizing our time-table, email inbox, weekly goals, monthly goals and our yearly goals.
