From shopping at
Pantaloons for
Van Heusen formal suits to watching my relatives ask for
UltraTech Cement to build their dream homes, Aditya Birla Group has had a strong and ever-present influence in my life. From
Peter England shirts to
Allen Solly Jackets; from
Forever 21’s jeans to
Liva’s comfortable range of clothes for females, I, along with my family has shopped at ABG brands for a long time without even realizing that they were all under the same umbrella group. Not only the ABG is involved in fashion retail and branded clothing for all but is even more famous and recognized in heavy industries of cement and metalworks while also providing financial services through
Aditya Birla Capital. The telecom operator we use to manufacturing the inputs for various products we consume, ABG has quietly spread its reach to almost 34 countries and met every customers’ expectations with great aplomb. I believe that everyone in India has been influenced by ABG through its products or their social work for the benefit of the people.
Aditya Birla Group has been synonymous with India’s development since its independence. ABG also has helped in influencing the government of India in favor of deregulation and free market economy. It has actively collaborated with Indian governments over the duration of 70 years in developing infrastructural facilities, setting up heavy industries, creating mass employment and investing in research and development to make technological advances in multiple fields while also helping to fulfil basic needs of BPL people and giving skill training in rural areas before the government even thought of regulating mandatory Corporate Social Responsibility.
ABG is actively working in healthcare and education sector as it runs 20 charitable hospitals and 5,000 medical camps serving more than 7.5 million villagers, immunized 70 million children against polio, operates 56 schools for 46,500 students, provides mid-day meals for 63,000 students in 268 schools and provides solar lamps for 450,000 school children. Not only that, but it also provides skill training for 95,000 people. It has linked up with many charitable foundations like
WHO, Australia India Council, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, etc. to work for the benefit of people and put a smile on faces of millions of people around the world. (Source –

How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life.
Life has thrown many curveballs at me, sometimes in the form of a car, but I cannot let them stop me from doing the right thing and giving my maximum to accomplish the goals I have set for myself. For instance, I met with a road accident when a van smashed my bike into the road divider, and I suffered bruises and cut eyebrow because the glass of helmet and my spectacles nearly went into my eyes. Another incident happened when I was 7; having a head-on collision with a car when I was riding my cycle. Such events may hurt physically, but that cannot make me afraid of what life holds for me in the future. I will never back away from a tough situation because if I don’t exert myself, stretch to reach new heights, how will I improve?
Last year, while preparing for
CAT examination, I was also preparing for
CA exams amidst doing full-time articleship having recently shifted from Delhi to Vadodara. It was hectic; tough to adapt, to the food, the language, and the people’s daily schedule and lifecycle in Gujarat were very different from people in Delhi. I met new people, made friends while studying diligently for both examinations for four months and the hard work paid off as here I am, a student of
IIM Visakhapatnam. Here, for the first time in my life, I am living separately from my parents, without their immediate guidance and support, but this is my chance to grab the opportunity of experiencing the life at a B-school and make the most of my time here in IIMV. My past year experience will help me to achieve so.
I have not only learned from my own life experiences; but also, been inspired by my parents’ hardships and the effort they have put in over their lifetimes to have the standard of living they have achieved. I want to emulate my parents and continue to work hard to achieve my goals and have a prosperous professional career as well as amicable personal relations with every acquittance I make.
