The reddish rays of the morning sun touch the window panes of Dharti Bhavan. The birds chirping and the squirrels squeaking give a message to the world to abandon their beds and brace themselves to face reality. The sole bandwagon of the house, my mother Kamini initiates her daily chores and pushes everyone out of their beds. Till the time I and my little sister Sunidhi brush our teeth, we smell the enthralling fragrance of roti (Indian Flatbread) and aloo ki sabzi (potato curry) rummaging through the house. We enter the kitchen and find her wrapping the rotis in the FreshWrapp aluminum foil. She makes sure that the rotis are fresh and warm and that’s the reason why after a lot of researching she decided to purchase FreshWrapp. We are happy that FreshWrapp has succeeded to meet her formidable standards of quality so that we don’t have to go shopping for aluminum foils every day. The fuming aloo ki sabzi is packed in the FreshPakk container. The family doctor is surely delighted with the change of packaging from plastic to aluminum containers as now the heated ingredients do not interact with the plastic and give us frequent stomach aches.
Today is an important day. I will become a financially independent member of the family. The excitement of procuring my first salary is causing a stir in my heart. I reach my office and start my day. The piled-up work on the office table doesn’t tense me today. I quietly initiate the task at hand and get engulfed in it.
It’s 12:30 pm. We all proceed to the lunch table. I open my FreshPakk container and the aroma of the sabzi fills the room. The warm rotis accompanied by the delicious sabzi make me forget everything. I finish my lunch and head towards the office table.
It’s 7 pm. I was called to the manager’s office and was congratulated. The cheque in my hand gave me literal chills. I came out of the room and started remembering the promises I made to my siblings. I immediately boarded a cab and headed towards the Pantaloons showroom. The collection was simply amazing. I walked through the aisles and I saw an extremely charming gown for a 7-year-old. I immediately knew this was the one. I took it in my hands, analyzed it from all possible angles and proceeded to the counter to pay the bill using the Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank application. Next to Pantaloons was the Forever 21 showroom. I remembered my elder sister glancing at a dress a week ago. She secretly wanted it but she was short on budget. I entered the showroom, grabbed the dress and made the payment.
The cab entered Dharti Bhavan and my heartbeat raged. I saw the packages lying on the seat and couldn’t control my smile. As I entered the house, my entire family surrounded me. I opened the packages and gave the respective gifts. The proud look on their faces just made my day.
I would like to thank Aditya Birla Group for the amazing products designed for the Indian families.
Challenges faced in my life
Since my first year in college, I was inclined towards tasks that would challenge me and compel me to come out of my comfort zone. I always wanted to gain primary experience in domains that included sales and marketing duties and thus decided to apply as a Sales and Marketing Representative at Laugh Out Loud Ventures.
My chief duties included generating leads by cold calling clients and convincing them to conduct a meeting with the Sales and Tech team. I experienced a feeling of nervousness every time I dialed any number and this emotion hurt my overall performance. The sales numbers were plummeting copiously and I decided to refurbish my approach to the problem to solve it effectively.
I started reading blogs and articles which elaborated on the process of reaching out to various clients and approaches to tackle various situations. I sought advice from my seniors who were in the sales domain. The analysis of the tips and techniques on various websites helped me in formulating a script that could assist me in handling the process by accurately understanding the concerns of my potential clients.
The internship helped me in boosting my self-esteem by shattering the communication barrier. By breaking the glass ceiling I experienced a significant change in my professional attitude. The successful sales conversions helped in regaining my confidence in the system. I realized the amount of positive change the product has brought in my clients' lives. I gradually acknowledged the fact that the exercise of sales and marketing is a connecting link that bridges the information gap and connects the right customer to the right product. The realization changed my perception about the sales process and the change in attitude helped me expand my professional network and engage in productive conversations without any hesitation.
