There are certain things in this world which have existed around us ever since the time we first came into this world, ABG is one such company which has touched upon almost every sphere of our lives. Aditya Birla Group, whose heritage dates back to the 19th century, has played a very crucial role in building our nation ever since the time India was fighting for freedom. Its major role in the freedom struggle can be gauged by the efforts put forward by the ABG in setting up crucial industries such as textiles and fibre, aluminium, cement, and chemicals in India in 20th century.  Until today Aditya Birla Group plays a crucial role in building our nation, from its presence in the base and walls of every household as Ultratech cement to provide the safety in the form of Birla carbon nanoparticles in the tyres. The lifeline of India, Indian Railways, is dependent heavily on Birla Copper for its copper requirements whereas the lifeline of people, mobile phones, uses the ABG product in the form of cover glass provided by Hindalco Limited. From setting up a date or a meeting via the telecom service Vodafone Idea Limited to the choice of apparels for a date or meeting, every sphere of an Indian is touched upon by the Aditya Birla Group.  Personally, in my life, ABG has been the first on a number of occasions which makes it special. I can recall my childhood days, when our house was being built, Ultratech cement has been the strength that still holds my house strong even after such long years. My first mobile number operator was Idea Cellular again an offering by Birla Communications Limited. Before my first job, the formals gifted to me were of the brands Park Avenue and Van Heusen. I used my first salary to gift the apparels to my family and friends after choosing from the wide range of options provided by Aditya Birla Group. Maybe it didn’t cross my mind before but a linkage between Aditya Birla Group and me has always been prevalent.

“Hope – A secret to success” by Vivek Kumar #IIM Trichy

Life is challenging and this makes it interesting and adds to its uniqueness. I am from a very small village Chakballi located in Begusarai, Bihar. The people there mostly rely on agriculture and small businesses with little education. During my childhood, people were reluctant to send their wards to schools and colleges and if someone wanted to pursue English education, they used to be mocked by the society around. In the midst of this, my parents saw a dream of giving me the best English education and wanted me to be in one of the top colleges in India.  I was enrolled in an English medium school, 12 km away from my home, which I used to cycle daily from my home. This kind of hard work used to motivate me to put in extra efforts and learn the most out of the opportunity provided to me. There were times when I used to feel like staying near my home, playing with other kids and enjoying my day but my father always used the corrective measures to put me back on track and focus. This focus and learning helped me view and know the world from a different perspective compared to the people around. All this boosted my dream of being in a top college for engineering but it all broke when I couldn’t do my best and achieve the best for me in 12th.  I joined an engineering college but always has the dream of my parents in my head. After my graduation, I decided to take up CAT while working parallelly. I discovered the pains I had taken in childhood to learn English was now paying off. It was much easier for me to understand and work on VARC section. From being at a place where no one even knew about English, I moved to be one amongst the top 0.5%ile in VARC section of CAT twice and this is what helped me achieve the dream of being in a top college like IIM Trichy. So, it’s important one must plant the seed of hope and aspiration at any stage of the life and no matter what the challenges come, a consistent fight and desire will pave the way for dreams to come true.
