Part A: Why Is Aditya Birla Group Big In My Life
The first thought which pops up in my mind about the Aditya Birla Group is the “Birla Institute of Technology”. I would like to cite a memory, about a decade ago when I had been asked by a friend of mine to accompany her to a college event titled “WAVES “ held at the “ BITS " Goa Campus. The impression as vivid as if it were yesterday, a grandiose gateway, it opened to an outspread driveway that led to the exquisite main building which was truly a modern architectural feat. As a teenager, these sights influenced me and was a major motivation to chase my dreams. This very image was the driving force as I was prepping up for the engineering entrance exams. Being a Goan, I was more attracted to the Goa Campus. Every time I visited the airport, which is a stone’s throw away from BITS, I would transit the lush green trees and the beautiful residential complex which is supported by the Aditya Birla Group, the site was enthralling. I considered it to be a perfect platform to learn and launch a career.
During the same timeframe, Idea’s “Walk and Talk ” campaign was gaining popularity too. I was mesmerized by the unique concept of marketing adopted and the importance given to the intricate nuances through advertising. An easy to recite, yet catchy tagline coupled with their witty advertisements with a storyline had the nation captivated. Even today, the Vodafone-Idea merger is providing exceptional services and increasing its customer base based sheerly on their consistent performance.
The Aditya Birla Group has also been partly responsible for the little financial accomplishments, I achieved as a young adult. Being not very well learned about the investment market yet taking a leap of faith and investing in “Aditya Birla Sunlife Mutual Fund” sheerly based on repute was a blessing in disguise. It was the very first investment made with my hard-earned money and hence will always be close to my heart. Although I was naïve in finance, the interface was intuitive, and the assistance provided online was very smooth and secure.
" Pantaloons " another Aditya Birla group product which is highly sought after and well-received equally by all age groups. I have been a frequent shopper of this clothing line since its inception. It offers a wide class of apparel from formals to casual wear and even ethnic Indian style.I was delighted to find a three storeyed store here at Ranchi. As Pantaloons offers products at various pricing range, it caters to the clothing need of all age brackets of the nation.
Having witnessed and experienced the above-mentioned ventures of the Aditya Birla Group first-hand, it has left a substantial impact on me that draws me to be a loyal customer. Without any second thoughts, I would definitely vouch for the new products/services offered by this group.
Part B: How Have I Made An Impact
As mentioned earlier, BITS being one of my dream colleges, during my years at senior school, I totally fixated pursuing my studies there. The elements that influenced me the most were the futuristic curriculum, exquisite campus and the practice school concept was very novel and unique when it was introduced. However, I was unable to clear the cut-off for the core engineering program and hence did not opt for it. I went on to graduate from the Goa College of Engineering. Even though this college is the top-ranked institute in the state, the guilt of failure to secure a seat in BITS haunted me.
After graduation, I secured an offer at the campus placements in IBM India Pvt Ltd. I went on to grab this opportunity and got into the corporate role. I learned that management at every phase of life is a requisite and is of utmost importance in the corporate world. Hence I sought for options to pursue my higher education in the same field. However, this time, I was determined to pursue my course from a very well reputed college. And yes, it took a lot of determination, hard work, tenacity, and support from my family. I had to manage my work at office alongside the quotidian chores and simultaneously study for cracking the CAT examination.
The efforts did pay off. I scored well in the CAT exam which ensured in a call from IIM Ranchi for its MBA-HR program. An unforgettable day, as it was fraught with ambivalence induced limbo. The feeling of accomplishment was on one side, whereas fear of stepping into the new world of unknown on the other. However, I made up my mind to take up the offer trusting my gut instinct.
As rightly said, " Everything you want is on the other side of fear ". I proudly maintain that being a part of IIM Ranchi is the best decision I ever made. I came to this “home away from home” at Ranchi and pretty soon got acclimatized to it. The beautiful hostel campus at Khelgaon is an added boon. The life at this institute is what I had always wanted and dreamt of. And today, here I am writing this article as a part of this prestigious institute. My life has been a roller coaster ride. However, the ups and downs in the course of the journey were totally worthwhile.
