THE LITTLE THINGSLife is not easy. Life was never easy to begin with. Human species, along with society has seen and experienced a lot. From living in caves hunting for the next meal to ordering food online sitting in an apartment in a high rising tower, we have come a long way. But, is life easy now? Can we cruise through life like a walk in the park? No. Problems of ancient times might have been solved but life challenges us with a new set of problems today. Hence “Life is not easy” prevails. Fortunately, there are certain people, moments and things that make living easier, makes it all worth it. For me, ABG is one of the quintessential pillars that continuously help me work my way through life a little easier. Even after so many years that I have known their brands, services and products, ABG never ceases to amaze me. My first contact with ABG was when I was just 10 years old. A small boy standing by his father’s side holding his hand curiously looking at his surrounding as his father inspected the under construction house, making sure everything is fine. This under construction space was their home to be, no more rental houses, a place which they would call home for rest of their life. He curiously asked pointing at a bag of cement “What is that?”. “That’s what’s going to keep us safe!” father replied. Now, this might seem overdramatic to everybody, but to that 10 year old boy it meant the world. The bag of cement read ULTRATECH. At that time I had no idea what ABG is, nor did I care but all these years have passed and I still believe that my family will always be safe at home. As I grew up, learned things, became aware I was influenced by ABG at many turns in life. Be it textile, fashion, telecom or financial services, it’s been a part of my life at every stage. Still, life is not easy. But ABG undoubtedly makes it a lot easier.RESILIENCEThroughout a person’s life, one faces different obstacles, different challenges of different types. My life too has been full of up and downs related especially to Basketball. In the movie Rocky, he is faced with many obstacles throughout his life, where he must learn to overcome and achieve great success on his own will power. Essentially, I have done the same thing. My basketball career and the difficulties I faced shaped me as the person I am today. I was always taught that basketball was about the love of the game and that it should be fun. Unfortunately, I faced many obstacles that I needed to overcome before I could ever make it big. Let me start from the beginning. I started playing when I was very young. I was very passionate and invested most of my hours to practice. At that time I was not wise enough otherwise I would have known that to have so much attachment and emotional connect to something at such a tender stage could be dangerous. If it does not work out, it scars one for a lifetime. I got selected early to the school team and that really boosted my hopes and dreams. But to much array, I was a benchwarmer for most of the time. I always blamed the situation, coach and anything that could be possibly blamed. That was a low time in my life. I had to take things in my own hands. That’s when I decided to switch schools, I transferred to a relatively less known school but I got to play as a starter there. I really bloomed well, performed to the best of potential and caught some eyes. People were now aware of my talents. Everything was going well; the informal plans for my future that I had written on the last page of my notebook were finally looking achievable. Then the incident happened, I broke my ankle during practice on one unfortunate. I was a minor fracture but it kept me away from my passion for almost an year. A lot can change in an year. But, I bounced back, it took me a little while to get back to the athlete I used to be but constant hard work and perseverance paid off. I played my first national level tournament four years after that. I was happy.
