After the induction week got over, we were given further details of our individual assignments, and therefore, I went to my assigned office. I got better understanding of my project and was introduced to the team at my assigned office. The team was nice and assured me of help and support that I would need during the course of my project. After that, I spoke to my manager and gained better insight into my project and thus began my week.
While the office timings were 9 to 5, as per my habit to reach early, I made it a point to reach the office at around 8.30. This gave me the opportunity to avoid the traffic, reach early and interact with people who would reach early like me and gain insight regarding their work, their experiences, talk about my work and take their input hoping to accelerate the work that I have. It helped me understand better what I am doing right, what I am doing wrong and gain a better perspective from people actually working in the field.
My manager and project buddy were extremely helpful in the whole process. They introduced me to a lot of people who could help me with the work that I have been assigned. They are also always open to hear me and tell me what I am doing is right and guide me towards the right path when they think what I am doing is wrong or would not really yield any results. The team that works with me is really cooperative as well, making sure that I work well within the timings and always ready to provide a perspective and a helping hand whenever required.
I was lucky enough to make quick friends with the team that I have. They are always happy to interact and share their experiences. They are also comic book fans and thus conversations that I have within the team are not only centered around work, they range as far as from the Endgame tickets to the Game Of Thrones theories. The fun thing about the entire process is that at one of my co-workers has told me
“You Know Nothing Trishla!” when I asked something obvious, which was not that obvious to me. (Game of Thrones Fans will hopefully get that reference, for those who don’t, please do Google! :P)
The project that I have in itself is challenging and on daily basis I am learning new things and have a lot of people who help me out whenever I am in a spot. The nature of my work is such that whenever I think I am on the right path and have figured it out but as I look deeper into it, I realise that there may be another way, which keeps me on my toes and makes me better.
Overall, the work environment is fun, but it is definitely not all work and no play. While everyone is great at what they do, they always make time to have fun and have a good time. Till this time this internship is going well, and hopefully will be the same in the days to come.
Will keep you posted with my next article!
