The ‘MORE’ it takes, the MOST we become-IIM Rohtak
Sometimes we continue to be associated with a conglomerate so closely that we fail to realise the impact it has been making in our lives. I felt this while working for Infosys for a few years. As a part of the many faculties provided to us, a major contribution was by Aditya Birla Group.
More store- is a retail store brand which provides everything from groceries to utensils or appliances helped the employees to do stress free work even if they were working in odd hours.
The Idea store helped employees to get easy sims to sim portability especially when the employee is transferred from one location to other. Although many fashion and apparel stores were a part of Infosys campus, Pantaloons, fashion retail store, owned by the Aditya Birla Group was a part of it.
Although its utility was best discovered during the time the whole city of Panchkula was under violent protests and riots during the imprisonment of a famous personality. We were under house arrest inside the company campus for 3-4 days. The basic needs were being met by the facilities provided by the company of which Aditya Birla Group was a major part of. They managed to provide the necessities by a to level supply chain management systems in a situation where the whole city was shut down and the flow of goods was almost impossible. To be able to provide the day to day necessity under the security of the premises of our workplace had an everlasting impact on the large population of Infosys employees.
I have been on a trek to Parashar Lake during the month of June two years back. To be able to complete a trek of almost a week of increasing altitude with continuous changing weather conditions and landscapes to finally reach a submit which is 4500 ft above sea level is extremely challenging. I had started off with my physical training almost 2 months prior to the trek. As I stared with the trek I get myself motivated with a zeal to finish it. But as the altitude increases the body starts to give up to the extreme conditions of low oxygen level and dehydration. I started having the symptoms of acute mountain sickness as I was about 12000 metres. Although I tried to keep myself motivated and increased the intake of fluids for hydration. I stopped 150 metres below the pass as my body could no longer take the climatic challenge, but I had ended up being amongst the only 11 people in team of 30 to reach that height. Although I realised where I lagged and what more efforts I need to put in my training for the next venture, I was proud of my efforts. I realised that anything in life even the ones that require our physical it will always come second to the strength of our minds.
