Having lived away from home from the past so many years, Aditya Birla Group’s presence has been really big in my life. Whenever I used to go back to college from home, my mom would pack homemade food for me in the Freshwrapp aluminium foil which would keep the food fresh for a long time. Whenever I felt homesick, Vodafone Idea network made sure I was able to have a video call with my parents. Also, during my third year of college, me and my friends had planned to go to Parashar Lake for trekking. We started late and due to heavy traffic, we reached late in the evening. As winters were going on, soon it became dark. No one was getting any network and we were unable to contact our friends and parents. People became tensed. That is when our guide told us that he had network in his phone and guess what? It was a Vodafone Idea sim card. During my college campus placements, I had to buy formals for the first time. The first brand that came to my mind was Peter England. I found some really nice collection there at a nominal price. Also, while joining MBA at IIFT, I had to buy a non-shiny navy-blue tie (not the one that you wear in a wedding). I tried every place in my city but couldn’t find any. That is when Van Heusen came to my rescue. These small incidences in my life have made me realize how Aditya Birla Group has always been involved in my life in one way or the other. My circumstances never defined where I could go, only where I started. Having pursued initial education from a very small town in Rajasthan, I moved to a comparatively more resourceful town in Haryana, and later to the royal city of Patiala for my under-graduation. It was always tough to adjust in a new environment with so much of competition at each and every stage of life. I knew I had to do something extra ordinary to survive in this rat race. There were times when I really wanted to give up, but then I realized giving up was not the option for me. I had to do something big. I worked really hard, focusing both on academics and extra-curricular activities. The exposure that I got was immense. It entirely changed my personality and made me confident enough to face any challenge in life. From being an under-confident kid when I entered the college to getting placed in one of the Big 4’s was a really big achievement for me. In my 10 months of work experience, I worked in 3 different projects and received great feedback from all my managers. The skills I acquired and the learning I had was phenomenal. And finally, came another challenge in my life. I decided to go for an MBA to enhance my skills and be a better version of myself. But it was difficult to manage the preparation along with the job. As I was still in my learning phase, I had to devote more time to office. At the same time, I had to make sure that my preparation doesn’t get affected. I had to prioritize. I worked extra hard and whenever I got any free time in between office, I used to prepare for the entrance exams. Finally, my hard work paid off and I got an admission in one of the top B-schools in India- Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi. My journey is demonstrative of how our ecosystem can be maximized for greater growth. The journey, although challenging and requiring great adaptability and fast-learning skills, allowed a wonderful learning experience.
