You must be utterly excited to unveil the actual mantra for a successful internship! You are reading the right story then. My experience of a summer internship at Robert Bosch was really very enriching and value-adding - both from the personal and organisational point of view.
To start with, Bosch launched a business School championship with the real-time business case. We needed to propose a suitable business Model of any business idea suiting the operational and business model of the German Automotive giant, now venturing into the most buzz Words- IoT and AI solutions. We were very excited, and all the team members (4 members) contributed their heart&soul and burnt the midnight oil amidst the so-called busy schedule of the 1st year of MBA life. Surprisingly, after our presentations amongst the competing teams, we received encouraging feedback about our work. This was not the end. I was rushing for another interview for a Summer internship the same day. Coincidentally, just after finishing the interview, I was called into the same hall for the results and guess what, we were selected as the #1 team to carry out our internship on the same lines at Bosch!
Work at Bosch - We started with very high hopes to give our best on the internship topics. All 4 of us got different topics for our research. The task was not easy, in fact, the difficult part has now started, Bosch actually wanted to venture into a new business domain of IoT and Personalisation in various sectors apart from the existing Mobility domain. We needed to conduct a detailed Market Research, existing scenario, Competetive analysis of the players, design the possible Product offerings, Prepare the business model including Costing, risk-Scenario analysis and Goto Market Strategy. You might be wondering the entire Business Case Analysis in just 2 months! But yes, this was what we had to deliver and as they say - "
With More Power, comes huge responsibility" but what we also realised was that "
With huge responsibility, comes higher expectations."
We started working and needless to say, the team at Bosch was really very supportive and approachable for whatever support and information you need. We started preparing the reports and materials and in fact to substantiate and validate our work for more inputs, we also met some of the actual clients to tune in the song as per their requirements. The actual shocker came during the Mid reviews with the team where everyone presented their viewpoints and also gave a plethora of inputs. Then we started incorporating the inputs to bring out the real-time effects and desired outputs. All in all, this was a complete glimpse of an entire business scenario (Marketing, Finance, Operations, Analytics).
We at NMIMS Bangalore, have also been allotted a Faculty Mentor individually to guide us during our internship duration. The Mid review with mentors actually gave us satisfying inputs to confirm that our study is actually proceeding in the right direction.
About Organisational Mentor- Our Mentor at Bosch was very supportive but at the same time was highly critical about the quality of work. Frankly speaking, his inputs actually pushed us an extra mile to strive for high-quality output and perfection. In the end, he guided about what the current industry is actually looking for and direction to proceed in future!
Tips for Aspiring Juniors- 1st year of hectic MBA schedule will actually bring a 360 Degree change in the perspective about the future. Please be on your toes and always keep your taps on for whatever opportunity comes along your way during the MBA life. Preparing for the interviews with all the relevant updates, take every business competition very seriously, who knows, you may be the next upcoming star for the company. Lastly, always have a learning attitude and present your 2 cents extra in every delivery during your internship duration.
Happy Networking
