Why ABG is big in my life?
ABG has always been a part of my life; either knowingly or unknowingly. Delving deep into the subject provided me with a profound sense of realization. “The sun never sets on the ABG empire” a little joke that I thought to myself.
My journey with ABG started right at the time of my birth. My father had just received a promotion and he thought that it was the correct time, to take one of the most important decisions there exist. To build a home. The foundations of my house and the structure was formed with Ultratech Cement. This ensured a solid construct.
As time passed, my quick growth spurt made it mandatory for me to acquire new apparels as I would outgrow them. My go-to shop, Pantaloons, was right next to my house. It catered to a variety of needs I had starting from casual wear to sportswear. Coincidentally, in the first race that I had won in my school, I was wearing a t-shirt from Pantaloons.
Soon it was time for me to get my own mobile phone. The very first set of responsibilities that a parent gives to his child is giving him/her a personal phone. The first sim card that I ever owned was that of Vodafone.
All of these life instances are connected and aided through the Aditya Birla Group of companies. It has truly been an integral part of my life.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions so far in life?
The most challenging situation I have faced in my life was to overcome myself. I completed my schooling from Delhi Public School, Pune, where I had the chance to learn with exceptional peers who always managed to score well. Academically, I was generally in the bottom 10% of the pyramid. No matter how much amount of an effort I put into, my grades would still remain unaffected. Consistently low performance was becoming a blow to my self-confidence. This had led me to create certain inhibitions. A person who is extremely close to me told me, “I refuse to believe that you lack something, try to find your passion, and excellence will follow.”
It was then I decided to choose commerce as my 12
th grade stream. Management as a subject instantaneously caught my attention. I had decided that this is what I want to pursue in life. The cynical beliefs that I held about myself slowly began to vanish. Through hard-work and perseverance, I was able to score well in subject and overall as well. This journey taught me a lot about myself, my capabilities and what I can achieve through patience and hard work. I am proud of the person I am today as I can descry tremendous personal growth, however, I have not become complacent as I know that there is still a lot of room to grow.
The lessons that I have learnt from my experience are that efforts will eventually lead to success. Even if it takes time, do not give up and keep trying, and also to never to stop believing in yourself. If you want the world to believe that you’re the best, it is you who has to believe it before anyone!
