Aditya Birla Group- a $44.3 Billion worth company. If you think about it, what role would the third largest Indian multi-national private sector conglomerate have in your life? Aditya Birla Group of companies employing over 120,000 people spanning over 35 countries. How would a person born to a middle class family benefit from a company like Aditya Birla Group? There are over a 200 million households in India who keep a close bond to the brand Ultratech Cement. Their shelter is strongly bound by trust they have given to the brand. The millions of people in India stay connected to their loved ones with the Idea cellular network. Phone connections, Internet connections, 4G services provided by Idea makes it the network loved by all. The millions of working professionals who ought to be dressed up in formal clothing to please their company and clients owe a ton to the classy and affordable Peter England. Now if you noticed, I’ve been mentioning about diverse industries and markets. What is the common element in what I’ve written? Yes, They all come under the same parent organization – the Aditya Birla Group commonly known among us by ABG. But if you think that what I’ve mentioned is all about ABG, you’ve got it all wrong. There is one of the leading chlor-alkali companies in Eastern India – the Bihar Caustic and Chemicals Limited. The Birla Sun Life Insurance Co Ltd providing life insurance coverage policies and assistance to millions of Indians. Madura Garments Life Style Retail Co. Ltd dressing up, again millions in latest trends and fashion. This will go on forever if I keep on mentioning all that comes under the Aditya Birla Group, just like it’s legacy. ABG is not just an organization, it is something that keeps the organizations under one Umbrella.

Challenges and experience teach you lessons for life. During my tenure as the chairman of the college senate, I had to face a big challenge in front of me. The college management had taken strict disciplinary action against a few of the students which would have cost them their career. The students went on an indefinite strike and urged to boycott classes until the action had been nullified. Yes, the students had made a mistake and it was something serious which needed to be addressed. At the same time, finishing the matter then and there was not a solution to the problem. Like everyone else, they needed a second chance. I, as the elected representative of the students in the college, had to settle the issue on behalf of the students. At the same time, I had to work along with the college management and ensure that such issues will not occur again. Several meetings were held, conditions laid, PTA body addressed, and the problems were finally sorted out. The important lessons that I got to learn were- You have to think both practically and ethically, give lesser importance to your personal interests and opinion when you are holding a position and is entrusted with certain responsibilities. It is this sense of responsibility why you were chosen in the first place. With proper communication and respects given in every regard with a positive and practical attitude can yield solutions to almost every problem. I mean it – Almost all the problems can be solved by addressing it in the right time, at the right place, by the right means.
