“Bigger and Better” We’ve all heard these phrases: “the more the merrier” or “the bigger the better”. Well Aditya Birla Group took it way too seriously and for good. The behemoth conglomerate has tapped all kinds of markets since its inception in 1857 and has become a household name. I still remember, my dad used to follow the stock market news and I heard ‘Hindalco’ several times. I was surprised when I found out the foil my mom used to pack food in – ‘Freshwrapp’ is a product of ‘Hindalco’ – owned by the giant Aditya Birla Group. Not to mention ‘the beginning of good things’ (Peter England) shopping. Fashion brands that everyone obsess about – Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, and Peter England are owned by the group. And my all-time favorites Forever 21, BIBA, VanHeusen, LifeStyle, Madame, Shoppers Stop. The list just doesn’t end. Also, my mom’s grocery shopping has a one stop solution now – ‘More - Retail’. Now that I think about it, my shopping spree starts and ends within the group’s brands and stores. Not sure about others, I’m shocked. And well the engineers might have a hard time in getting into good B-schools, but their choice matters to the Aditya Birla Group – “UltraTech Cement: The Engineer’s Choice”. And not just Engineers, they got our financial analysts covered too, Aditya Birla Finance Ltd. is India’s most reputed Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC). And the group is keeping well with the modern consumers. Recently launched, Aditya Birla Payments Bank, joint venture by Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd. and Vodafone Idea Limited is their step into the UPI payments market. And don’t get me started on Vodafone Idea Limited merger with Vodafone India to create the largest telecom company in India (what an Idea Sir-ji). The Aditya Birla Group’s strength lies in the diversity of its people, their thoughts and their experiences. To top it all, their values, belief of caring and giving back to the society really influences me. This is shown by their active participation in the CSR activities. Working for social cause and sustainable development, they have touched the lives of more than 7 million people around the globe and certainly mine. I’ll coin a tagline for them: “Aditya Birla Group – Making India Proud”

There is no better synergy when values and beliefs match. ABGLP is the perfect concoction of values that I associate with my myself. The set of values are ingrained within me and has held me in good stead throughout. I was pursuing Computer Applications from my university it dawned upon me that I would like to do my bit for the society and improve my skill set. Alongside my education, with the zeal to learn and understand new concepts and with the start-up game strong on the market, I took up an operations and business development role with a start up named, Edoofa (Anhad Edutrain Solutions). Every year, millions of students face a plethora of problems which include not knowing where to get quality college – both under-graduation and post-graduation, how to finance the high cost of getting such education, how to get industry exposure and learn skills necessary to excel at work. This scenario especially effects developing economies such as countries in Africa and SAARC where growth opportunities are rapidly rising, but students do not have the practical skills needed to make use of them. It was an extremely challenging endeavor as the culture in India and outside are poles apart.   With the perfect amalgamation of passion, integrity and commitment to help students I was responsible for setting up the Africa and Bhutan business for the start-up catering to the operations bit.

Meanwhile, my team at college was also responsible for the seminars and co-curricular activities. There was a lot of rigorous planning which went into organizing the Webinars to ensure that the event was a success. The last moment hindrances and obstacles enabled me to think on my feet and act with speed and precision ensuring a seamless experience for the attendees and the speakers. There is no better synergy when values and beliefs match. “Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence.”
