Common Admission Test (CAT) is the first benchmark for the candidates who are aspiring to be a promising manager. Securing a high percentile in CAT exam will act as a gate pass for the aspirants to the top management institutes like - Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Management Development Institute (Gurgaon), International Management Institute (IMI), National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), S.P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Jamanlal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) etc. CAT is Regarded as one of the toughest entrance examination in the country. Around 2 lakhs candidate appear for the exam each year.
This computer based examination, tests the candidate’s proficiency in solving verbal ability, quantitative ability and data interpretation questions.
This year, CAT will be held on the month of December.
The aspirants are requested to check the following eligibility criteria before registration:
● The candidate should be a graduate securing 50% of marks or equivalent CGPA/ grade - the university follows - In case the candidate belongs to a reserved category, he/she should secure 45% or equivalent in bachelor’s degree.
● Candidates who are still in their final year of graduation, are eligible to take the exam, provided they are able to present the required marks and certificates before the start of the session.

Note: CAT Registrations are on. Candidates need to abide by the following instructions, before starting the registration:
Reservation of Seats for CAT 2016
● For OBC Candidates: 27%
● For SC Candidates: 15%
● For ST Candidates: 7.5%
● For the person with disabilities: 3%
Percentages are susceptible to change according to Govt. regulations.
What is the fee for registration of CAT exam and how can you pay?
● The registration fees for
CAT 2016 is Rs.1700 for General Category candidates and Rs. 850 for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
● This time the CAT registration is to be carried out on through online mode.

Registration process:
● CAT registrations have already begun. The candidate needs to login to iimcat.ac.in and apply, entering their information, in the portal. The information required should be collected beforehand to avoid any mistake while entering as it may cost the candidate to pay for the form again and start the registration process again.
● The candidate can prefer up to four cities.
● Registrations are closing on 22nd September - 5 PM IST.
● Candidates can download the Admit Card from the portal on or after 18th October - till the date of the test.
CAT 2016 Admission Process:
After securing the desired percentile, the candidate will be called in by the colleges for further rounds. Nowadays, the IIMs are conducting Written Ability Test and Personal Interview as their selection procedure, after CAT exam. The entered information by the candidate might go through a background check and verification of past academic performance.
CAT 2016 Exam Pattern
CAT exam pattern for this haven’t gone through a major change as compared to last year’s exam. The candidate will be able to practice from the official mock test once released. 18th October is the release date for official CAT sample paper.
CAT 2016 will be in the following pattern.
● The Duration for CAT exam has been increased from 170 to 180 minutes.
● The number of question has also been changed section wise:
● From this year, CAT 2016 will be having 3 sections:
❖ Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation : 32 questions.
❖ Verbal Ability : 34 questions
❖ Quantitative Aptitude : 34 Questions
Candidates need to note that they cannot switch between sections while answering.
