Aditya Birla Group was established 162 years ago and has been spreading its business in every sector throughout the globe. It is the third largest Indian private sector conglomerate. The group works in various sectors including metal, cement, branded apparel, fertilizer, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services etc.   Since my father is an employee in Hindalco, ABG, I have grown up in this environment. Hindalco is the world’s largest aluminium rolling company and among the biggest producers. All the units are environment friendly as they take care of the nearby villages, medical facilities to the locals as well as the employees, housing facility provided to the employees and other perks. The work life balance, the culture, medical facilities provided by them, the core values which Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla truly believes in (that is Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and Speed), makes it’s the third largest private Indian company. ABG has made an impact on me in every sphere of life. Being the pioneer in aluminium business, all of us have used aluminium foils in our day to day life.  Among the various brands owned by them, few of them that I have used are Van Heusen, Pantaloons, The Collective and Forever 21. I still remember the first time when I was nervous for my recruitment during my engineering days and that was the time I went and bought a few things from Van Heusen for the big day. The material of the cloth that the company offers and also a great range of variety of apparels attracts customer from all across the world. They also take care of the small things other than clothes, which a person might need but didn’t remember to write it down. And when it comes to fashion, what would be better than Pantaloons that hosts a great number of brands under one roof. As its tagline says, “Fresh Fashion”, it is all that we need. With the growing demand and the ever-changing need in fashion, Pantaloons has not let any down by its advertising and pricing strategy. The ‘reward point system’ offered by them is again one of the factors to retain customers. Another brand which has attracted me is Forever 21. The uniqueness of the name says it all, ‘where the clothes lasts for 21 hours’ and yes anyone who has used this brand can vouch for this. One of the most challenging situations that I faced was when I moved out of my college hostel to live in an apartment. As I have always led a sheltered life, suddenly I was exposed to challenges of living alone in a big city. For me, managing my food, living expenses, travelling and handling college assignments simultaneously became a big challenge. Living alone taught me a great deal at multitasking; how to plan and manage my monthly expenses and also, I have learnt how to handle unexpected matters for example dealing with a plumbing problem early in the morning. This experience taught me to be self- reliant and be more mature.
