The first lesson I got from my B-school life experience was the value of time. Despite getting ready 10 minutes prior to the lecture, I got late to the very first class by 1 minute due to some confusion regarding the room number. I was asked to remain outside and it was the moment of realisation for me. There are also other instances which made me realise the importance of time. We are being subjected to a truckload of stress in the form of a barrage of case studies, attendance rules, presentations, quizzes and hectic and packed schedules. All this rigour is helping us in enhancing our time management skills. In our marketing class, our professor has made a rule that whoever dozes off for 30 seconds or more has to dance infront of the whole class. After a couple of such performances from my class mates, I realised the value of a second. Till now, I have learnt that it is best to take everything in the B-school life with an open mind, a willingness to learn and a smile as it is like an examination which nobody can prepare for.
The ABG Company with which I would like to work is Grasim Industries which is the largest manufacturer of viscose staple fibre in Asia. It is something to which I can connect really well and is very close to my heart. My father has been a part of Grasim Industries (Nagda) for 1.5 years in the initial phase of his career and he has always told me about the learnings one can incur due to multicultural environment and a large number of employees working there. I have been to Nagda many times since my childhood and have felt the peace, belief and serenity at places like Birla Gram Mandir and Aditya Birla Group colony. Nagda enjoys a great location advantage because of it lying at a midway distance from Mumbai and Delhi. It was the main reason for the establishment of Grasim at Nagda and this advantage can further be used by the company to open new usage scenarios and for further development. As a part of a company which itself is the symbol of India’s surge for economic and industrial liberation, I would like to work with country’s best brain to equip myself with knowledge of the management functions, roles and skills and to use that knowledge to serve the organization with best of my abilities and to groom myself for higher management roles at the same time.
