Student 7
Background: A B.Tech Engineer, 4 years Work Experience

How did you prepare for TISSNET? According to you, what is the most important aspect of preparation?
My maths and English were taken care of, so I focussed on General Awareness part. I regularly read newspapers and watched YouTube channels to be updated with GK and current affairs. Any YouTube channel that focusses on government exams should be good.

How many full-length mock tests did you take? What was your approach while taking mocks?
4-5. I just wanted to get a bird's-eye view of the paper. Mocks help in just that. My personal advice would be to take mocks only for knowing the pattern and question type. Even if you don't take mocks that's fine as long as you are familiar with the exam.

Which section was your Achilles heel? How did you overcome that?
It was GK for sure, GK has been very unpredictable and it will continue to be so. I overcame it by starting early and developing an interest in knowing stuff. I could not have left it for the last leg of my preparation.

How much time did you devote to preparation on a regular basis?
Generally 3-4 hours. If a topic is very interesting I read it for 6-8 hours too; I avoid suggesting it though. Cover breadth not depth.

What according to you are 2 DO's and 2 DON'Ts of TISSNET preparation?
DOs:
1. Be relaxed and use your time wisely.
2. Keep reading newspapers.

DON'Ts:
1. Don't listen to people who say TISSNET is the easiest exam, be dedicated in your preparation.
2. Don't take any section lightly, non-negative marks are lucrative, but luck doesn't favour most of us.

What would be your final advice to TISSNET 2021 Aspirants?
Stay confident no matter what. If you are satisfied with your efforts you will do much better if you stay calm.

Student 8
Background: Mechanical Engineer, 4.5 Years Of Experience

How did you prepare for TISSNET? According to you, what is the most important aspect of preparation?
For the Verbal aptitude, logical reasoning and quant, I used to attempt Levels 1 & 2 of quantitative aptitude's books and for GK , I used to refer to news articles from various newspapers like Indian Express, Economic Times, Mint etc. and randomly study material available on the internet pertaining to static GK, and make notes in a register. The most important aspect I believe is to maintain consistency especially in the GK preparation as it is quite difficult to commit so many things to memory at once, but daily revision will help out in this aspect.

How many full-length mock tests did you take? What was your approach while taking mocks?
None. I didn't appear for any mocks. Instead, I used to follow a regime of daily going through all my notes (for GK) and solving 10 questions each from VA, LR and QA. I followed this approach daily for 2 months before TISSNET.

Which section was your Achilles heel? How did you overcome that?
GK was my Achilles heel, mainly because the questions are very diverse and one needs to have a proper breadth of knowledge of a wide range of topics to attempt. Also, a cut off was specified only in the GK section which made it even more daunting. I, therefore, decided to use a more eclectic approach wherein I used to study GK from multiple sources like newspapers , online articles , Google and Wikipedia searches etc.

How much time did you devote to preparation on a regular basis?
1 hour daily for 2 months before the TISSNET exam

What according to you are 2 DO's and 2 DON'Ts of TISSNET preparation?
DO's:
1) Maintain a record of your daily learning, any data, facts etc. for GK
2) Daily Revise all that you have learnt previously in a diligent manner

DON'Ts:
1) Don't focus overtly on any particular topic while preparing GK. I believe breadth is more important than depth here and do ensure to go through all topics
2) With regard to current affairs, do not ignore any important development or any nugget of information you come across and try to note it down/commit to memory asap.

What would be your final advice to TISSNET 2021 Aspirants?
Prepare well! Even if things don't turn out the way you want, don't lose hope! There's always a tomorrow! All the Best!

Student 9
Background: B. Tech (Electronics and Communication Engineering), 21 months of experience

How did you prepare for TISSNET? According to you, what is the most important aspect of preparation?
Gave few mocks and regularly revised current affairs.

How many full-length mock tests did you take? What was your approach while taking mocks?
Gave around 4 to 6 mocks. After I was done, I would analyse them thoroughly and revise them well.

Which section was your Achilles heel? How did you overcome that?
I had to put in extra efforts for business awareness related to general knowledge.

How much time did you devote to preparation on a regular basis?
1 month before exams.

What according to you are 2 DO's and 2 DON'Ts of TISSNET preparation?
Do's- give mocks don't keep it for the last and analyse them
Dont's- don't refer to multiple sources and keep calm during the examination

What would be your final advice to TISSNET 2021 Aspirants?
Stay calm and focused. Analyze your mocks well.

Student 10
Background: Engineer, 2 years of experience

How did you prepare for TISSNET? According to you, what is the most important aspect of preparation?
The most important aspect would vary based on what kind of learner the aspirant is (the learning style of the aspirant)

How many full-length mock tests did you take? What was your approach while taking mocks?
I did not appear for any mocks

Which section was your Achilles heel? How did you overcome that?
My Achilles heel was GK. To overcome it, I did a lot of revision regularly

How much time did you devote to preparation on a regular basis?
1-2 hrs

What according to you are 2 DO's and 2 DON'Ts of TISSNET preparation?
Do's -- Practice questions from all the 3 sections, Focus on your strengths
Don't -- Avoid cramming G.K at the last moment, Don't leave any topic altogether in quants (even glancing the basic concepts help)

What would be your final advice to TISSNET 2021 Aspirants?
Do your best!

Student 11
Background: E&C Engineer, Fresher

How did you prepare for TISSNET? According to you, what is the most important aspect of preparation?
Self-study and mock tests.

How many full-length mock tests did you take? What was your approach while taking mocks?
2 mock tests. The focus was on learning time management.

Which section was your Achilles heel? How did you overcome that?
None as such but gave equal importance to every section.

How much time did you devote to preparation on a regular basis?
2 to 4 hrs

What according to you are 2 DO's and 2 DON'Ts of TISSNET preparation?

DOs: read newspapers and practice more from all sections
Don'ts: focussing too much on only one section, say, general awareness.
Not practising how to complete the exam in time

What would be your final advice to TISSNET 2021 Aspirants?
Target your strength area first in the final exam. Make sure to attempt maximum questions from quant, verbal and logical reasoning section. Give enough focus so as to clear the cutoff for general awareness section

Student 12
Background: B.Tech Computer Science

How did you prepare for TISSNET? According to you, what is the most important aspect of preparation?
Learning concepts from the heart gives the ability to speed up through the questions in the exam which is the key. Having basic current affairs and business knowledge with a little acquaintance of DI has the potential to do the trick.

How many full-length mock tests did you take? What was your approach while taking mocks?
Mocks enhance speed. Giving mocks keeps the brain ready for peak performance in the exam hours. It trains and helps analyze methods to enhance performance. However no mock content is very closely related to the actual exam, so the focus should be on learning the concepts by heart during the preparation while in the exam, we should try to do a maximum number of questions.

Which section was your Achilles heel? How did you overcome that?
I was afraid of the gk section but sailed through as some of the questions were a mix of static and current gk.

How much time did you devote to preparation on a regular basis?
I used to spend all my time daily practising for more than 6 months before appearing for the exam.

What according to you are 2 DO's and 2 DON'Ts of TISSNET preparation?

DO's
Believe in yourself, and speed up.
Try as many questions as you can.

Don'ts
No getting stuck on a question. No question has more importance than time for other many questions.
Don't doubt your abilities.

What would be your final advice to TISSNET 2021 Aspirants?
I would say that I know the possibilities of you getting here exist. So if it comes up to you in the form of this paper, don't let it go . I know you already full prepared. Now believe in yourself and just take this leap of faith!
