Having been worked in corporate for almost 2 years, I decided to prepare for MBA exams while still continuing my corporate job. For me, quitting the job to prepare for MBA wasn’t an option. Entrance exams required time, energy and attention. Managing my job while preparing for exams was a huge challenge. I had been assigned a project which was crucial to my team. The work was new and challenging. The work required me to work not only during regular working hours but also over nights and weekends. I had made my decision to not give up on either job or my studies. I knew that managing my job and studies will be very challenging. I did not have enough time; it was important for me to come up with a plan. Since day and night time were being utilized by my job, I had to study in morning. I knew I had to capitalize on my weekends for studies. I had to utilize time to commit to the planning, preparation and delivery of the challenge. I knew that key to achieving success is to dissect the challenge into a number of smaller steps. For me, each small step was a short-term goal and completion of each short-term goal meant one step closer to success. With my short-term goals in place, I committed to invest the time and effort efficiently to make sure I continue to deliver my short-term goals. Repeated success in delivering my goals increased my motivation which, in turn, increased my belief in my abilities to deliver my long-term goal. I had analyzed my strengths and was working on my weak areas. During this time, my hobby of being a DJ always helped me to pave a way out of any obstacle, while remaining upbeat. Through my constant hard work and determination, I was able to complete my project as well as crack entrance exams. With my time bound and focused preparation plan in the right direction, I was able to get into a premier B School – NMIMS.
