Part A
The roots of the Aditya Birla Group can be traced back to 1857 in the tiny village of Pilani, Rajasthan when Seth Shiv Narayan Birla ventured into cotton trading. Today, with operations across 35 countries, and revenues of US$44.3 billion, the Group is a leading player in aluminum, cement manufacturing, viscose staple fiber, carbon black, chemicals, copper, financial services, telecom, branded apparels, fertilizers, viscose staple yarn and insulators.
Aditya Birla group has been part of our day to day life since childhood though was unaware of it that time I was in class 7th when my father bought a Birla Sunlife Insurance mutual fund for me and was too excited that time seeing my name on the mutual fund bond paper.
My sister gifted me a shirt from her first salary and that belonged to Van Heusen, I didn’t know that it was a part of Aditya Birla Group. L had also bought clothes from other brands like Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Peter England but I still didn't know that all were part of the grand Aditya Birla Group and slowly did I realize that it had become a part of our life.
We used to ponder on the Idea’s advertisement during our childhood days with the tag line "What an idea Sir Ji" with Abhishek Bachchan as its brand Ambassador.
During our college first year, there was a fresher’s event and a competition based on the tagline of brands was organized and we had to answer the brand and tagline respectively.
Accidentally I found one tagline “Engineer’s choice” and that grabbed my attention; frankly speaking I didn't know that it was of Ultratech cement. So I came back to the hostel and searched on the same.
Pursuing Engineering in Metallurgical and Material Science department made me come across Hindalco Industries Ltd; an aluminum and copper manufacturing company, while searching for internship and placement opportunities. Then I researched it and found that it is a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group. And finally, after detailed research, I came to know that ABG has been a part of our lives since its inception, and has impacted all of us in some way or the other. Starting from the house where we live, the vehicle in which we travel, the mobile phone which we use to connect with people, and the clothes which we wear, the Aditya Birla Group has contributed in all these fields.
Part B
My life is full of ups and downs and whenever something has taken me back I have tried to come forward with a double effort. When I was in class 12th in New Delhi I got dengue fever and was in critical condition due to which I lost my studies for 2 months. Still, I fought back with the rest of the time and was able to secure a place into one of the Best engineering colleges in India, National Institute of Technology Warangal.
At NIT Warangal the first year was very dull for me, I didn't score well in exams and got just 6.54 SGPA in first sem and 7.19 in the second. During my first sem itself I had an incident of hand burn on eve of Diwali and missed all my minor exams because of it, I didn't even participate in extra-curricular activities in the first year, but again in 2nd year I came back with double enthusiasm and energy and was Elected as Branch representative in student council NIT Warangal. And then there was no looking back.
I was Branch Topper in 2nd year with 9.83 SGPA in 4th sem. I was Executive Member in Branch Association, Joint Secretary in Literary and Debating Club, Campus Ambassador from my college at Technical fest of IIT BHU, Sub core member in Technical fest of college in the Quality control management team and retained Top 5 position in Branch and was recognized by Ministry of Steel Government of India. Finally, I got placed in Reliance Industries Limited and was served as Manager at Jamnagar Refinery of Reliance which is also the world's largest refinery.
Introspecting back at all those responsibilities and activities, it gives me a sense of satisfaction, happiness and confidence for all of my future endeavors.
