I strong believe that all firsts are special in life – first friends, first degree, first job, first salary and definitely the first policy you invest in. For me choosing from a wide range of policies was actually a no brainer because I have grown up in a family where life insurance policies / investments were almost synonymous to Aditya Birla. So the first real financial decision I took in my life was to invest in Aditya Birla Sunlife’s life insurance. The lucrative returns and little sense of achievement of being capable of investing in an Aditya Birla policy made me happy
A couple of months down the lane when my family wanted to construct a new house, I had become a key decision maker of a lot of things at home. The contract was finalized, the blueprint was ready when It came to deciding what materials to be used I was more than delighted to say – “Zindagi me ek hi baar ghar banaenge #ChanceNaLoUltraTechLo”. Also the ultratech cement website became a quick handy guide for us – we used to resort to their home planning sections, rainy reason checklist etc. to ensure we are on the right direction. Their Home-Building articles were almost at my finger tips and it became my one stop construction guide. The entire construction was done using UltraTech cement and we were very relieved with respect to the safety of our house. Even today I recommend UltraTech cement and their digital resources to my peers who are building houses
I have always aimed to delivered my best and make a long lasting impact in the organization I am a part of. After my engineering when I joined Global Analytics as a software engineer I wanted to be one of the top-performing employees and contribute significantly to the business. However working on a completely new framework (Python and Django) with other new joiners who had a prior exposure to the same in their college took a toll on my confidence. It took a lot of time for me to grasp the concepts – while an IITian did a task in 2 hrs I would take 1 day to do the same work. It was becoming increasingly difficult to be at par with other new joiners and in the initial months I could not see myself making a mark in the organization
Soon I realized that the more I focus on my problems, the more zoomed in they will be. I realized I should stop feeling miserable about this and do something to improve. The next months saw me working for almost 15 hours. I would work for the organization for about 8-9 hrs and spend the remaining time for self-learning – Python, Django, Javascript, CSS, Bootstrap – everything that was needed for a smooth execution from my end. I took up online courses, saw tutorials and ensured to build a strong base before I run humongous code for the company. Soon I started to get comfortable with the entire existing code base and new features development seemed like a piece of cake. I had to give up on a lot for the first few months – sleep, hanging out, travelling etc but the day I received “The Spirit In Value Award for Execution Excellence” I knew it was all worth it.
