Part B:
No one has control over the situations that follow them in their life. The level of difficulties may vary but that doesn’t mean any level is easy. A kid might be frightened for his upcoming exams in grade 1 or somebody might be fighting out there to save their married life.
Some days, I think it is just not for all
To be a greater man on a call!
Sometimes, the God's children have to suffer,
because for them there is no bread or butter!
Some nights, I eat multiple varieties of food,
Unmindful of this privilege, oh so good!
All this to eat and does it make me brave?
While small children fight hunger till their grave!
The poem was written when I read the news of children dying out of hunger in Syria and I realized that I have been blessed to be born in an environment full of opportunities and learnings. Like most middle-class families, we were grappling for survival in life. The struggles may seem as petite as walking 3 miles back home from the school because the rickshaw-puller asked Rupees 2 more than what my sister and I could afford or finding paradise at Nani's (grandmother) home in summer vacations while the other kids were taking excursions to the hills and beaches. The agony of looking at my mother sacrificing her chapatti to any of the family members is still daunting. All the circumstances made me believe it’s the Gold that always shines yet I never lost humanity. Most of the problems I faced in my life were pertaining to the finances. I rendered services in events to BookMyShow after college to extend a little help to my family. The help was as small as earning 600 bucks but it helped sail the ship thru the storm. I burnt the midnight oil to learn the skills and finally all hard work was paid off when I got hired as a consultant by a multi-national company.
Unsure of even completing my 12
th standard, here I am studying the management program at XIMB. If I accept my defeat, I will be soon on the streets. I try to give my 100% and plan beforehand how I can make the best out of today. I found success in organizing thoughts in my mind on what to do tomorrow. Further, facing the failures or successes and thinking about what is to be done next.
