Part A: Trust And Belongingness
Aditya Birla Group, as the name suggests, is a part and parcel of most of the products one uses in their daily life, hence the tag
“We Are #BigInYourLife “. The company excels and is a group leader in several sectors around the world including, fashion and lifestyle, grey and white cement and concrete, and telecom services. It is also known for the CSR activities that it performs to effectively contribute and give back to the society.
In my personal life, ABG has been a motherly brand, since from the very childhood, my mother used to pack the tiffin in the aluminum foils, without worrying about the hygiene or the food turning bad. This aluminum foil is a product of ABG, namely,
“Freshwrapp”, which gives a satisfaction to a mother for the things which are most important to her like, freshness of the food, hygiene, etc. This sense of satisfaction and relief that a mother gets from using a product is what ABG has established itself as a brand.
Another way the brand forms an important part of my life is through the fashion industry. I have been purchasing my clothes, casual, formals party wear, from pantaloons and specifically the brands like
“Peter England” and
“Allen Solly”. These are the brands I have been wearing for a long time now and I have complete trust and satisfaction, because of the quality and price of the products. These clothes last longer, without any color fading even after several washes and suits my personality, because just like me, it can withstand the roughness and toughness that life has to offer.
Part B: Taking A Stand
I come from a business family where my dad is a businessman. Even I was told to join the family business, however I was inclined towards education and then working in the corporate world. My long-term ambition is to be in a strategic position of a Multi- National Organization and to do that, I would certainly have to complete my studies, particularly an MBA, since it would provide me with the requisite skills and cross-functional knowledge to excel in the corporate world.
Although, it was a tough decision to convince my parents of joining an MBA college, and, I had a tough task of convincing to do, I managed to explain them the importance of my goals and ambitions, by telling them that, even though my father has a well-established business, but I wanted to make a mark in the corporate world along with being a philanthropic, so that I can give back to the society, In my own small way.
I also told them that to this task, I would be required to have the power and authority, as well as the available resources, along with the responsibility. This power and authority, I will only be able to achieve if I am in a strategic position of an MNC. I would also want to lead the company by expanding its horizons in terms of the top and bottom line, while, at the same time taking care of the CSR requirements. At the same time, I would always be available to handle my father’s business and help in any ways possible. This made them realize the logic behind the decision I was going to take, and they supported me in my decision and today both me and my parents are proud of me and the decisions I took. In this way, I feel that I have made an impact in my own life by believing in what my goals were and taking the right decision despite the odds I faced.
