lllumina, the market research club of MDI organized its 25th edition of the disguised market research festival on the 14th of November. In the last 25 years, Illumina has provided various companies with the unique opportunity to study consumer behaviour through creative market research, designed by the students of MDI. On the occasion of Illumina’s 25th anniversary, the theme of the festival was ‘Reminiscence.’ MDI was unable to open the campus this year owing to the pandemic, and urban Illumina was not held in its typical style. However, this didn’t dampen the excitement for the event this year and it is rightly said that dreams do not work unless you do, which is why the students of MDI Gurgaon toiled day in and day out and poured their hearts and souls into bringing out an event for the new normal. Illumina held the 2nd edition of E-Illumina. Being the 25th year of Illumina, it was all the more special for each and every member of the team. This year Illumina had:
  1. Expressions - In this format, Illumina conducted an art and craft competition exclusively for kids aged 6-16 which helped us in conducting disguised market research. This year Illumina conducted the competition in hybrid mode, where few students participated online while others were present in the MDI campus. The event attracted the participation of over 500 children and the children had a wonderful time drawing and interacting with the team members.
  2. Market Research Workshop - Mr. Rohit Kumar, the vice-president of Hansa Research Group conducted a market research workshop wherein he explained the different aspects of market research. The session was immediately followed by a quiz to test the students on their learnings from the session.
  3. FOOD-A-THON - This year Illumina also conducted a Virtual FOOD-A-THON in collaboration with KFC. The event was designed with quizzes, lucky draws, and a scavenger hunt as well. This provided the participants an action-packed evening while team Illumina conducted Market research for KFC in the backend.
  4. Comedy Show - Finally, the day was capped off by a stand-up comedy show by the most spontaneous and witty Harsh Gujral. His infectious energy and audience interaction left all the students in splits.
Even with restrictions placed on Illumina due to the pandemic, Illumina stayed true to its mission in providing comprehensive, accurate, and actionable market research to each for our partners. E-Illumina 2021 was a huge success as all events received great participation from across India, even in the virtual set-up! But the show is not over yet, with the effects of the pandemic waning, Illumina still has a few more events in the pipeline. We’ll love to entertain you again.
