Delhi, the city of flyers and the place for foodies! The day I stepped here, it was like I have walked into the desert of Sahara. As I am from Mumbai, I haven’t seen days as hot as Delhi summer days. My IIFT journey started from the airport. While I was moving towards IIFT, I heard a number of stories from the Uber driver as he had worked some years back at IIFT. The story which stuck in my mind was that of “A Typical Day at IIFT”. After hearing that story, I was eager to experience that “Typical Day”. The day finally arrived and it was the Second of July. Like the story from the Uber driver, my day started at 6 in the morning. I was allotted a room at the C9 hostel which is outside the campus, around 800 meters from the college. First task of the day was to get ready as soon as possible because everyone knows what happens at a boy’s hostel when they have to share their restrooms. The second and the biggest challenge for me was to have breakfast from the #MESS. I am very particular about what I eat, in addition to that, it was my first time experience of mess food.
The third most common challenge for all students across the globe i.e. attending classes. My very first class at IIFT was Business Economics and coming from an IT background, this challenge became more difficult for me. The words which were being used were a never ending puzzle for me. The best part was that we get 15 minutes break after the long 2 hours lecture. In these 15 minutes, usually, students visit the Nescafe outlet as it is the cherry on the cake for students who have a cup of coffee and get recharged for next session. Then came the lecture on Marketing Management and it started with the marketing bible “Philip Kotler”. It took us deep into the sea of marketing. After 2 lectures, we got a break for lunch again #MESS food. Post lunch, there was the lecture on Financial Accounting. The professor was really engaging and interactive. She made sure that financial accounting is as easy as remembering a movie song. The #LastLecture of the day was on Business Communication and it was filled with fun activities which made our day.

Which ABG Company would I like to work for and why?
Given an opportunity, I would like to work with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL). As the fashion industry is growing at very fast rate with the changes happening in a short span. Also my family has a background in textile industry and I would also like to explore this field myself. The fact that ABFRL is expanding into 2 tier cities will give me ample opportunity to gain more knowledge in the sales and marketing sector.
