Illumina, the market research club of MDI, has been providing companies with the unique opportunity to study consumer behaviour through creative market research, designed by the students of MDI. With a successful track record of 23 years, Illumina is a medium of research conducted in the heart of Gurgaon attracting a footfall in excess of 8000. Illumina has conducted market research for HUL, Swiggy, Airtel, HP, OYO, Mankind, 1mg, and many more in the past.
They have also hosted sponsors like Pepsi, HUL, IOCL, OYO Rooms, HP, Decathlon, Tetra Pack, Nielsen, Lava, Corporation Bank, Union Bank of India etc.
Illumina consists of four different formats which are as follows:
- Urban Illumina - Market Research under the guise of a Diwali fun 'n food Mela is conducted in the campus of MDI Gurgaon during the Diwali time to study the behaviour of urban consumers.
- Indulge - Indulge is held at malls to target the affluent mall-going crowd under the guise of talent hunts and fashion shows.
- Rural Illumina - Market research is conducted in a Dussehra Mela in Pataudi village, Haryana to study the rural folks.
- Expressions - In this format, Illumina conducts disguised market research exclusively for kids aged 6-16. This event attracts the participation of over 500 children with activities like extempore, painting and essay writing.
Urban Illumina 2019 was themed as “Life in Pixels”, saw a plethora of food and entertainment stalls at a well-decorated campus with the melodies of Astitva band in the background and an energetic performance by Ritviz that made the campus dance to its beats.
But then this year, just like the rest of the world, Illumina was hit by the pandemic. Due to this, MDI is unable to open the campus and urban Illumina is not taking place in its traditional format. But this hasn’t affected the enthusiasm for the event this year. It is said that dreams don’t work unless you do and hence, the students of MDI Gurgaon worked day and night and put in their heart and soul to bring to you an event for the new normal. Presenting to you for the first time ever, E-Illumina.
Illumina is back with its 24th edition. This year they are conducting multiple events online like a Virtual Pet Lovers Meet in association with Pedigree, Whiskas and IAMS, a Stand-Up Comedy show by Comicstaan winner Aakash Gupta, a Market Research workshop by Hansa Research, Expressions, an art and craft event for children and other notable events. E-Illumina is scheduled for the 22nd November 2020.
The new addition this year is the Virtual Pet Lovers Meet. They are giving everyone the opportunity to take part in a pet competition, vet seminar, a knowledge round and a lucky draw.
