Tell us in brief about how you prepared for summer placement interviews?
My seniors guided me very well for my preparation for summer placements. My mentor told me that my CV is going to be my image and the sole basis of my interview so I prepared my CV very well. I ran multiple iterations and got many people to review it before turning it in for the final selection process. Once the CV was finalised, I started framing questions around it and I had a question bank which would contain all the questions that I could think of from my CV. It was also very important to be thorough with the concepts and their application in real life. I read Organizational Behaviour Theories and Human Resource Systems and Processes religiously every single day as they were the most relevant subjects so far as the HR domain is concerned. I tried to be well versed with current happenings in different industries by going through online resources like - HR Katha, People matters and also the reputed English Dailies such as - Economic Times, The Hindu etc
What was the summer internship selection process like for Reliance?
First there was a CV based shortlist, after that the short listed candidates were asked to appear for a psychometric assessment of the candidates. This round was also eliminative. The candidates who cleared the psychometric assessment were called for group discussion. The group discussion was case based. There were two rounds of interview after the group discussions ended. The interview revolved around my CV and extra-curricular activities.
What are the reasons you think you cracked the interview?
I felt that at Reliance Industries, the interviewers were looking for a candidate who was well read and updated about the latest technology trends. Being an engineer, I have an interest in reading about the upcoming technological trends and disruptions in future. The panel kept digging deeper to check my understanding of the concepts and application of new technology in HR. I persisted and I was able to answer most of the questions. At the end of the interview they seemed satisfied with my responses and I think this played a vital role in turning the decision in my favour.
What did you do right to achieve the PPO ?
I followed a very structured thought process and came up with the strategies, models and templates which could be implemented easily so my focus was not on getting the best in the world solution for Reliance rather creating something which could be of value for them i.e. something which was good if not the best but was feasible in terms of implementation. This is the reason I was able to see the implementation of my projects during my internship itself and this is something which helped me achieve the PPO.
What are the most cherishable moments of your internship?
The most cherishable moment for me was my last day of internship when the whole team came to give me a farewell gift and when everyone applauded my work and appreciated me for the short time that we had known each other.
