Joining JBIMS, one of India's most premier management institute was always a dream for me. Even prior to being admitted in the institute I had managed to visit the place a few times. One thing that always intrigued me is the bathtub right in the middle of the campus building. For days together I used to think as to why someone would place a bathtub right in the middle of a well-known reputed institute. The placement of the bathtub was such as if to show it in limelight and it is a part of the heritage of the building. I had a few friends who were then were studying at the institute. While interacting with them I used to quietly slip in this question regarding the bathtub just so as to know its exact purpose. More often than not they used to shrug off this question or usually divert to a completely different topic. That, in fact, heightened my curiosity even more and I kept thinking as if it is a part of the Bajaj tradition to keep the purpose of the bathtub a mystery to the outsiders. Finally a couple of years down the line I was able to manage an admit to the institute. So in order to decipher the secret, I asked a number of people on campus. Later did I come to know it is genuinely a mystery to everyone on campus as well. It's been there for so long that nobody who is currently associated with the institute knows about it. But I still wanted to know about it. As a part of the alumni committee on campus, I do get a chance to interact with all the 52 batches which have passed out through the institute and I decided to leverage this advantage. Upon interacting with a few alumni I got to know that the blue color bath tub was build and kept in the institute in the late 1970s or the early 1980s and in fact was supposed to be a part of the institute only for a few weeks, later to be moved out to somewhere else. The plan was delayed for a few years and was eventually dropped. So finally the tub which was supposed to be part for only a few weeks is now close to 40 years in the institute. It is now part of the heritage and a perfect spot for batch photographs over the years, which brings out something that is truly unique to the institute. Speaking of heritage and legacy one such company I wish to work for would be Hindalco. It is a flagship company in the business of aluminum in India and a prime competitor all across the globe. The stature and legacy the company brings with it is unmatched and I wish to be a part of it. I have had an opportunity to interact with a few employees of the company and the reviews I have received are simply phenomenal. It’s fabulous to hear that a company this huge is able to take care of each of its employees to such a great extent. The roles, culture, environment they offer is something every management trainee looks for. I have also being following the proceeds of the company in the last few years and the progress the company has made in spite of the ups and downs of the metal market is simply top notch. Finally being a part of a manufacturing company and delivering physical results is something which drives me and I feel the company's core DNA is something I can feel sync with.   Vaibhav Deshmukh MMS-II, JBIMS
